[QUOTE="topsemag55"][QUOTE="btaylor2404"]Even though I've been married 11 years and have never cheated I strongly disagree. There are enough laws, and what goes on between spouses should stay there, out of the judicial system.btaylor2404
As I posted earlier, if the military decides to prosecute an adultery charge, you could serve up to two years and be branded a felon.
Not saying it's prevalent or anything, but the charge is on the books.
I believe it's there due to public perception of the military - I haven't heard of anyone being charged.
Well the military is a different animal. They have their own laws which I think should mostly be kept in check. I didn't mean to say take all laws off the books, sorry for the misunderstanding, just the general public. No, not a misunderstanding, I was pointing out that the military goes by a different standard, driven by public perception.:)
As a whole, the military's actions are driven by public perception.
For example (barring any disclosure of secrets), the military tries to keep the public informed that they are getting their money's worth on what they buy (which is why you see films of "bunker-busters" hitting their targets).
The military will bust members that don't pay their just debts, again due mostly to public perception (don't want the negative publicity).
Any military member desiring to take leave (vacation) in a Communist country has to obtain special permission to do so.
Military members are required to disclose any personal contacts from a person who may be a known Communist.
All of this comes from public perception.
