I recall they said the chances of it happening were around about 1 in 700,000.

You know, when they first created the atom bomb, some people thought that it would ignite the atmosphere, starting a chain reaction that would kill pretty much everything. Of course, it was just scare mongering. Still, they ceated the most destructive weapon the Earth has ever known... I don't know what to think. On one hand, I trust the scientists, but on the other hand, there's still that nagging "What if...?" feeling. Guess we'll just have to wait and see...

Umm, against. No, seriously, it was the chances of a doomsday event. I bet it was made up on the spot, but still, it's reassuring that they are confident in their work.

I think everyone should watch this.

The LHC is no threat what so ever. We will not die, the Earth will not be destroyed and scientists will know a lot more about the universe because of it.

[QUOTE="Bio_Spark"]I think a black hole plunging to the Earth's core and eating the world from the inside out would be a pretty hardcore way to destroy everything.Matt-4542
Certainly changed my way of wanting to die Bio_Spark. Youre posts are full of mega awesomeness x)

Stop trying to brown-nose your way into his sig :P

Anyway even if it does create a black hole (a mini black hole at that) there wouldn't be enough power to sustain it and would disintergrate due to radiation almost instantly.

Why dont they just crucify all the scientists working on this and destroy the machine. I want to live my life. Not die in 39 days. Anyways, I dont understand how this could kill us. Although I did see something on tv about this. If its so dangerous, why would they risk doing it. Sounds fake to me.

Whether that's accurate or not, every device's chance of destroying the universe should be at ZERO.

1 in 700,000 is zero if you are looking from a non-hysterical standpoint.

That's good then, considering it has almost no chance of destroying the Earth, let alone the entire universe.
