I'm not talkin' emo, metal, death metal, nu metal, and sad songs. We need more bands that just flatout rock, like there use to be so many like Zeppelin, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Van Halen, KISS, GNR, Ratt, and so on.Right now all I've heard thats any good is Velvet Revolver and Wolfmother, after that most of its metal, emo, punk, and garbage like that.Where's the real rockers at these days?

First, I wouldn't say Metal is garbage.
Second, they're no Aerosmith, but if you're in for some nice melodic soft rock, the Finnish band Poets of the Fall (the same band from Max Payne 2's title song Late Goodbye) is actually surprisingly good imo.

I don't tend to listen to this kind of music but I found something special in this band. Great vocalist, btw.

you really need to stop trying to make controversial music topics, because you're really bad at it, not to add your opinions on music are horribly uninformed and ignorant.

no, not at all. I said what I said because you actually have displayed no real knowledge of music, yet you constantly try to act like you are a music guru. I'm not saying I'm a pro with music, but neither are you so stop pretending.

and to answer your thread, because classic rock has had its time in the light, it needs to die. Yes it has influenced many of today's bands, but it needs to go away now.

That stuff is not good music. It's more pop than rock. If you want good rock, Nickelback is probably the best there is right now (for just plain rock).

Fall Out Boy is better than every band you listed.

Real rock?... I think you mean classic rock. And classic rock is named so for a reason... Either way, there's no such thing as real, 100% pure rock - simply because the rock genre was borned as a crossover between several genre elements (such as blues and country). Also, some of the bands you've mentioned are rather metal, yet you classify them as pure rock..

I agree with the sentiment, but you listed Aerosmith and KISS, so I must disagree with your idea of good rock.

I'm not talkin' emo, metal, death metal, nu metal, and sad songs. We need more bands that just flatout rock, like there use to be so many like Zeppelin, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Van Halen, KISS, GNR, Ratt, and so on.Right now all I've heard thats any good is Velvet Revolver and Wolfmother, after that most of its metal, emo, punk, and garbage like that.Where's the real rockers at these days?jimmygrace

I like how every band you listed after Zeppelin is complete and utter trash, even among lots of your fellow pretentious c_lassic rock boppers, who listen to the radio and think that's all there is to music.

It's 2007, stop posting like its the 80's, because no one cares.

There's two scenarios I can come up with, either you're over 30 or 40 years old and are just stuck on the trash that you only really ever listened to because your friends in high school told you to, or you're some young guy trying to be a snob by pimping the "c.lassics". Either way, as a modern day musician and follower of a better generation of music, it annoys the hell out of me every time.

Credit goes to Genesis, Zeppelin, Sabbath and Rush. Pretty much it.

it seems that everyone has already more or les said what i was thinking, so i'll ujst leave you with a few recomendations; they may not "real" rock, or rock at all, but they're great none the less;

- Porcupine Tree

- Radiohead

- Opeth

- Nightwish

- Sonata Arctica

when did i mention KISS:| i hate KISS. There are more influencial bands than those you mentioned. Cmon if you think thats it then you should do more research. These are some of the c_lassic rock bands you missed

T Rex

Pink Floyd

Big Star

Cream

Derek and the dominoes

the beatles

the rolling stones ( even if you dont like them, they were still a big influence)

the kinks

the who

jethro tull

david bowie

Queen

Yes

Brian Eno

It doesnt matter what you think of c_lassic rock, its still very influencial no matter what you think

I have no problem with you liking it.

its not just that, c_lassic rock is not out of date. Just because it is old does not make it out of date, it sounds as good now as it did then

In some respects. The better bands do, but remember, there were god-awful ones aswell.

What a hilarious read. A bunch of know it alls that are calling other know it alls, know it alls. Sample argument:

Loser 1: "No! I know everything about music!!!"
Loser 2: "Yeah right! I know everything about music!"
Loser 1: "My arse! I like Nicklesomething, they're ALL RAWK"
Loser 2: "Puh-leeease!!! That's not good RAWK!"

Lame.

Classic rock is a big part of my life mainly because it makes up the majority of my music collection. Granted, I love the blues and metal, but for me, all of those older bands blow any of today's bands out of the water. Now before you start an argument with me, please re-read the last sentence, and put emphasis on for me. However, that doesn't mean there aren't new artists that are grabbing my attention, they just come few and far between.
