I love the classics and think that music in general owes alot to them, but that was so long ago, i tend to listen to more new music, even though classics are great.

[QUOTE="Beaman"]you really need to stop trying to make controversial music topics, because you're really bad at it, not to add your opinions on music are horribly uninformed and ignorant.Beaman

Because my tastes differ from yours?

no, not at all. I said what I said because you actually have displayed no real knowledge of music, yet you constantly try to act like you are a music guru. I'm not saying I'm a pro with music, but neither are you so stop pretending.

and to answer your thread, because classic rock has had its time in the light, it needs to die. Yes it has influenced many of today's bands, but it needs to go away now.

I agree 100%, your stance seems to be "Metal sucks, i love real rock!" guess what, you can say that all you want, but when you say you hate metal and then list a hair/glam metal group (Ratt) as a rock group you love you lose a lot of credibility in my books. Also, classic rock isn't going to return anytime soon, it has influenced countless bands, but really, i think the era of the mega-star musicians is completely over. One of the best things about the big time classic metal and rock groups is their amazing lasting power (music of the 60s-80s is making a comeback in popularity) but those days are done. Musicians these days seem to be popular for a few years and then they drop off the face of the earth. No one is going to be listening to the popular bands of today in 30 years. Enjoy your classic rock (and hair metal even though metal sucks, but you list Ratt among your all time greats) it isn't coming back. And i'm not going to list individual bands for you to check out because you'll just make some random blanket statement about them, but check out some older metal groups, it is very different from todays generation of metal, i have met very few people who love classic rock but HATE classic metal (assuming thy are open minded ;))

its not just that, c_lassic rock is not out of date. Just because it is old does not make it out of date, it sounds as good now as it did then

Film-Guy
Classic rock has held up amazingly well (i agree there were/are some bad classical rock groups, but as a whole i'd say the genre has definitely stood the test of time. I'm curious what has changed exactly. No one is going to be listening to the music of today in 30 or 40 years (hell no one is going to listen to the music of today in 3 or 4 years, a band reaches popularity, then in a few years the and sucks beyond belief and everyone wants to hate them).

Music is constantly changing, I have learned this first hand, 2/4 of my old band members are in a classic rock band, and well, you can't make classic rock really, no music style can be brought back the exact same, I love the doors, rush, zeppelin, but I still can't like them as much as new music now, especially if I'm trying to write something "new".

That stuff is not good music. It's more pop than rock. If you want good rock, Nickelback is probably the best there is right now (for just plain rock).

Fall Out Boy is better than every band you listed.

I'm finding new music (as in 2000 and newer) that's just as good as some of the older stuff.

There's a lot of great music out there, you just have to look harder.

I'm not talkin' emo, metal, death metal, nu metal, and sad songs. We need more bands that just flatout rock, like there use to be so many like Zeppelin, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Van Halen, KISS, GNR, Ratt, and so on.Right now all I've heard thats any good is Velvet Revolver and Wolfmother, after that most of its metal, emo, punk, and garbage like that.Where's the real rockers at these days?jimmygrace

As much as I love cIassic rock, I must agree. The music produced in the 60's, 70's and 80's was some of the best, but never again will it reach that level again. I think that as much as you would like a ressurgance of the cIassic days, we should just stick with what we have, and allow music to grow.

sometimes its fun to forget about meaningful lyrics and just rock out or dance:P like the scissor sisters, terrible band, but their songs are catchy as hell. Same thing with bands like men without hats and A-ha

Music is fine with the way it is. You should look past the mainstream, you'll most likely find something you'll like.

I love how you say metal is garbage.. and then you list Led Zeppelin.

Led Zeppelin = early metal. One of the bands that started the metal genre.

Their first album was good but their newest album is terrible. Check out the band Sixx:A.M., you might like them. It is the new band from Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx.

I laugh at the fact that you think Wolfmother is 'real rock', or even that you think they're good. All they're trying to do is copy Led Zeppelin, which is very uncool. Second, metal isn't garbage. Third, if you want a good band that fits what you want, check out Hellyeah.
