It's time to re-open some old wounds and decide once and for all

Wow, Shawshank Redemption, not even close. FG was well-made and well-acted, but it was way too, hmmm...hard to describe this, niche maybe? FG was like it was experiencing an era through one set of eyes and going into fantasy to explain how you can witness an entire era through ine man's eyes. Shawshank felt like it was about real people the entire time, like you were experiencing a drama about real characters that you cared about. Not that I didn't care about FG's characters, but SR was just way more realistic to me.

Its incredibly tough, but I'm gonna give the nod to Shawshank Redemption. I could watch it everyday, and still enjoy it like it was seeing it for the 1st time.

I have only seen Gump.

Love both movies... but Forrest Gump is a little more light hearted, thus more enjoyable, which makes it easier to watch any time.JustPlainLucas

true if Gump is on tv I have no trouble watching it. If Shawshank is on it isn't quite as instant because it's much more serious.

I've only seen gump and I don't understand all the praise for the movie. The movie's story itself sucks and the acting of Hanks isn't gonna make it any better then it deserves to be.

Forrest Gump is a bad movie.

Shawshank. Love both though....it's just....Forest Gump doesn't really seem to be on its level of story telling. Lethalhazard

If Forrest Gump wasn't over played I would say Gump. But I think I was more blown away by Gump when I first saw it then Shawshank.

Shawshank easily, it's almost perfect.
