Exercise. Run a mile and exhaust yourself. The temptation will subside.

Here's a big reason, your body is already healing

You already have lower blood pressure and pulse, that happened in the first 20 minutes

Your blood has enough oxygen in it, that happened in 8 hours

If you keep on going in 48 hours you'll have your sense of smell and taste come back and your chance of heart attack lowers by at much as 50%

ty friend. good reasons. but it is very hard because i just want one cigarette. however the logical part of my brain knows that cig might be good, but the ones after it won't and i'll just keep smoking anyway.

You're in for a rough time bro, I wish you luck though. Thought about trying the patches? I know a couple people that have quit with the help of patches.

It will take a while before your body kicked out all of the nicotine... just ignore your craving, think about something else to do.

Tried that quitting business once. Got... 6 months. Wasn't an especially good six months. Good luck, but we'll be back here waiting for you.

Conditioning. I always got to smoke after I eat. Somebody suggested once that you take a day or a week or whatever and write down what you're doing every time you smoke. Then work on eliminating them one by one. 'Course, you're going cold turkey. God help you.

think i should go get a pack and just work on smoking less and less until I stop entirely? cold turkey might leave me bound to fail.

Yow! Does your sarcasm muscle always spasm like that? Or only when you're jonesing? If it's the latter, you could make a career out of quitting.

Sure don't. you're already starting. When-slash-if you fail, give two days to write it down, then give that one a shot. Heard it from a coworker who quit for good.

Quitting shouldn't be a problem. Just remember- you won't crave them after a couple of days, but you'll miss them. And if you ever intend to smoke again, bum it, because the first pack you buy means you lose.

Do not post here. Do not write e mails. Watch dumb movies, keep things really, really stupid. Any kind of intellectual effort will make those cravings unbearable.

Three more days and it will be over. You have my word.
