[QUOTE="El_Zo1212o"][QUOTE="Toxic-Seahorse"][QUOTE="El_Zo1212o"] No, teaching assh*les who put themselves in environments they don't approve of who's boss.

You're really not, you just look like a douche doing it. Every group has dumbasses in it, non smoker are no exception. However, acting like blowing smoke at them is cool is laughable at best.

I never meant to make it sound like I thought it was cool, I do it as a way to punish morons who think that I'm less than they are because I smoke. A question for you: How many people, seeing several places in a wide area at ass level on which to sit, would sit right next to someone who is doing something they(the first person) finds objectionable, and then demand that the second person, who was there first, cease this activity? I've got an answer for you: F*CK YOU- that's how many. If you're gonna act all superior to me because I'm smoking, then I'm gonna screw with you until you either leave me alone, or piss off altogether.

Yes.

I quit smoking cigarettes 6 days ago... this time want to do it properly.
Had only few puffs from a joint which friends were sharing... nothing more!

Damn I would never believe it to be true but after quitting smoking, it feels like my lungs are new. You can finally breathe fresh oxygen. Hard to describe but ex-smokers will understand

Actually, I move away, shit for brains. I can't stand your shitty smoke. Nice try though.

Then why don't you move away from this thread, you incalculable asshat?

One day, I hope you chuff your little 'I hate smoke' cough in front of a dude who's finally had enough and he beats the living Christ outta you. Oh, and we all die sometime. Even nonsmokers. You should be safe after 6 days. However, keep in mind that there's no such thing as "Just one puff" or "Just one cigarette while I'm drinking with the guys" for us ex-smokers. That one puff will trigger all kinds of shit inside your brain and you will get hooked again. That's just how nicotine works.

He won't be able to beat the living Christ out of me because he'll be too busy coughing his lungs out. There are a myriad of health problems that can pop up from smoking and debilitate or kill you long before you reach the adult diaper years.

Just think of all that junk dirtying up your lungs permantly. The fact that it's going to lower your life span, cost you money and a tonne of other bad things. I've never started, but I've got reason enough not to, and if I ever did, I'd look back on those facts to help stop.

Pretty much. El_Zo seems to be forgetting that it can costs thousands of dollars a year depending on how much you smoke. It's not just about life span. You might as well flush $100 bills down the toilet if you're gonna be blowing it on cigs. You're basically spending money to kill yourself. O_O

Dude I gave up smoking 6 years ago. Cold turkey. I also gave up smoking pot at the same time. I use to smoke heavily between the two.

It was awful for the first few weeks ofgiving up but fast foward to today I am a different person.

I run 50 miles a week. Best shape of my life, and im sure I have alot more money now than I did when I was supporting such a bad habit.

Its worth it man.

Welcome to OT. Get used to it.

The person is trying to quit. Telling them their "problem" was all their fault does not help. In fact, it generally makes the person trying to quit want to slap you gently across the face with a lead-cored baseball bat studded with nails. If you back off, it won't make the person trying to quit feel like it's not worth it, and regress out of spite.

best way to stop is to also give up coffee and beer.

it is hard to have a cup of coffee or a beer without also feeling like having a smoke with.

I lasted 8 years without a cigarette by also not having coffee or beer.

you can drink tea instead of coffee

That's not true. I drink a lot of coffee, and I've gone 3 1/2 years without backsliding. It's not what you drink or eat that affects your smoking, it's pure willpower.

I'm glad that worked for you but I've heard that 'pure will power' bladerdash from people for years and it just does not work for most of us. you can not tell an addict that he has to "be strong" and resist the urge because that simply won't work in most cases. to most of us a cup of coffee or a beer is inextricably wedded to having a cigarette and you need to remove the tempation if you really want to succeed. I went for 6 years without coffee and trying one cup still made me desire a smoke so I went back to drinking tea for a couple more years. now I have finally lost the urge for both coffee and cigarettes but it has been a long battle and a near thing.

That is the most insane thing I've heard.

I used to light up as soon as I got behind the wheel of my car. I used to light up when I played GW1. I used to light up when I mowed the lawn. For me, those 3 activities are most strongly tied to smoking... and not only didn't I give them up, I got over the cravings for a smoke that I had when I did them.

I live in a subirb where, if you don't drive, you don't get anywhere. I have a 30 min. drive to and from campus for classes. If I had to give up driving because I wanted a cigarette each and every time I drove, I'd be screwed.

It's completely about willpower, and getting over the pychological part of nicotine addiction. It's not "balderdash," it's fact. Once you do something that's tied to smoking several times, the cravings fade and eventually disappear.

It's about 75% willpower. The other 25% is conditioning. If you always smoked while drinking your morning coffee, then drinking coffee in the morning triggers the craving. You can overcome the craving, and after a while the conditioning fades when the craving isn't satisfied.

you just keep telling yourself that everyone is the same and because something worked for it just HAS to work for everyone else.

remember for some people there are factors to consider.

health factors

medication and brain damage.

memory loss.

and perhaps other things
