[QUOTE="Dark-Sithious"]Wait, you became heavier when you started working out?SGT4EVAyes... muscle weighs more then fat....
You assume he actually gained a lot of muscle. Let's say he's obese and has gradually been gaining weight for the last few years, joining a gym would slow down the process but not stop it entirely, which has made him gain some muscle but also fat.
Either way, I'd like to know when he started working out, as 16 pounds of muscle is quite a lot, and is not easy to accomplish without illegal substances. And judging by the op, it seems pretty recent.
The answers to all these questions are probably that he was a skinny person, and after he joined the gym, he has gained both muscle and fat, due to increased intake of calories.
i was a staggering 126ibs when i started and now im currently 140ibs. pete_merlinI'm 126 lbs >.> Bleh, I'll catch up..

It all depends on how much muscle he started off with, if he had very little then gaining 16lbs ain't that hardi weigh 225 and can bench 160, in 12 reps
also im 16. ive actually havent lost any weight since ive hit the gym back in june, but i can tell the difference because of how skinnier ive became and how much muscles pop out of my chest and arms.
also better do cardio or you'll screw yourself up, trust me.
