For example, today, we have very convenient and nice things like cars, cell phones, electricity, etc. However, along with those things, we have things like serious pollution, deforestation, the threat of a nuclear holocaust, and other things. IMO, I think we gained and lost things when we advanced technology. What do you guys think?

But pirates were considered criminals, and I suspect that you could get severely punished if you were one and were caught. Also, their ship technology was very primitive, therefore, and made being a pirate dangerous, and probably because of the lack of women on board, they did stuff that I would get banned for mentioning.

But we still have sex slaves, child workers, child slaves, in other countries, or even in places like the U. S., though it doesn't seem as rampant there.

No the world has not gotten better. The world is functioning as intended. There is ultimately no such thing as better or worst. Only humans who like to think there is.

I'm looking for opinions, and that is yours. I'm not a scientist, but isn't it kinda obvious that a lot has changed over centuries? That's why the question is good for debating.

It is progressing and advancing but saying that it's gotten better is subjective.

who cares if pirates were considered criminals? thats the whole fun about it. and nah, pirates did have women aboard their ships thats a common misconception, and besides, there were pirate ports and such where they would dock and basically have their way with all the women on the island who willing would lay with a badass pirate

I guess you're right. But there are things I think a lot of people would agree are negative, and started as positive, or vice versa. Like how due to people traveling through the airlines creates connections between nations, but then diseases travel from country to country because of that.

I'm saying you could get sent to prison or killed for being a pirate, one or the other, right? If I were to be a pirate, I'd somehow want to be one in this time period. Faster ships, better weapons, etc.

We have gained so much with technology and machines but with that we (the american people) have lost our will to do physical labor and actually work for what we have. I am the only person from my graduating class that actually does manual labor for a living.

I think the whole "In the good old days" is a crock. People always look back, thinking other era's were great, when upon closer inspection they weren't.

todays world is stagnating, there are no new inventions on evolution of old technology example:mobile phones are just improved examples of cordless phone which in turn are improved examples of the standard phone which has been around for like 80 years, the same can be said for tvs, computers, cars etc, i personally would wanted to have lived during my pa's era (1930-1950)

Honestly...and unfortunatly....Humans have the ability to think and convince other people of "stuff". I believe my race should not have been given this. People...are...retarded. There is no good and evil. Only "People" "Problems".

Life is definitely easier now for sure thanks to technology. Whether or not the world is a better place now when compared to the past is highly subjective...

if u mean tvs' cars, computers, these are all quite old inventions, the basic car design hasn't changed, tv's are the same except for being bigger and having improved definition, computers are the same except they are more powerful, if u look at the last 20 years NOTHING new has been invented just improved

No, these inventions are not old at all, in fact, they are very recent.

Old inventions would be, the chariot and sword, and if you want to go beyond that, writing.

And even beyond that, houses and clothing. And there are inventions even older than that.
