I've been working as a dishwasher for $10/hour, for the last six months, at a fancy restaurant across the street from my apartment.
I need a new job, as telling people I'm seventeen and wash dishes is, well, depressing.
I have good style, I could very well work in retail... that's about all the ideas I have.

Who cares what other people think. You probably make more than they do pumping gas or bagging groceries or mowing some rich guy's lawn. You're only 17, after all, and $10/hour isn't bad for a 17 year old. If you're looking for a career change, perhaps you should talk to your restaurant boss about moving up the chain. If you say you could work retail, then you could certainly pitch yourself as a waiter. Then you'd get an hourly rate and tips on top of that.
While in university, I had some crappy jobs like dish washer and bank teller. Though it was only a few months here and there, and it did indeed suck, I did not feel embarrassed to be doing these sorts of things, because they were decent options at that point in my life. I'd be unhappy with myself if I had made something like that my career, but that didn't happen to me, nor will it happen to you. Most people have to work a crappy job at some point in their lives.
