Which religion is closer to god? Are the jews really gods children as they claim? Do the jews need to find Muhammed (sp) gods final prophet?

Atheists, please stay out. This isnt a topic discussing the existence of god. Also, this is on the same level as the atheism vs christianity threads (as far as offensive material is concerned). So if you find it offensive, oh well. A religion topic that stays on the topic of these specific religions would be great. it would be okay for someone who is part of these religions to state there specific beliefs and why you find that particular belief system to be correct.

With that said, I'd say Islam is closer. According to what my iranian teacher said during a Mid-East studies program, Islam is closer to because it is more recent and more relavent. In other words, Islam preaches the most recent word of God...consider it Religion 3.0, with Judaism and Christianity being 1.0 and 2.0.

All the Jew and Christian prophets are in the Quran, the only exception is the Jesus is a prophet and not the song of God.

Actually Islam only started from Muhammed, Previous Prophets just preached their followers to pray to one God and dispose their Pagan believes.

Previous prophets did come from the Jewish community, only Muhammed was from the Arabs.

The belief in islam is that judaism was supposed to be the true monotheistic religion, but its followers went astray. Then christianity was introduced, but its followers also went astray. Islam is supposedly the true religion of God, hence Muhammad being "the last prophet". But thats jsut we believe.

The Judaism Faith has some people that think that they are better then everyone else and whoever does not follow them is going to Hell. And they are starving and killing the Palestinians. and with their belief that everyone that is not like them should suffer and they are Perfect.

And Islam has some STUPID extremists that are ruining the religion. It is NOT FAIR that the world is judging 1.5 billion Muslims because of 1 million IDIOTS that attacked America for no apparent reason. Osama Bin ladin and his stupid followers are ruining our religion of Islam with their hate and attacking of innocent people and suicide attacks that are recognized in the Koran as an EXTREME sin and is an AUTOMATIC sending to hell no matter what. It depends. Do you mean, is the modern day Jew closer to God then the modern day Muslim?

The reason I ask this is, because prior to Jesus, the "believers" (Muslims) were "the Jews"... in Arabic, Bani Israel... "the children of Israel". Many of whom were very close to God, especially those whom followed the teachings of God's prophets.

However, between modern Jews and modern Muslims, I would have to go with the Muslim. Why? Well, I believe that the Qur'an is the final, complete and preserved word of God. Thus, a "true" Muslim who follows it will bound to be closer to God, in comparision to a modern Jew who follows the Torah, which is not the final, complete and preserved word of God - but instead contains quite a bit of man-made introductions into the text, which I believe to be contrary to God's teachings.

This is a pretty sick thread if you ask me.
