I'd say I enjoyed it but there were a few things that I couldn't quite process right away. Something felt funny about the plot, which seemed to move in a sort of zig-zag motion, in that it would go from one thing to the next to the next and would only vaguely tap into each element without much reference before or after. They just didn't seem to fit into the same linear sequence. Sure, there was a great cast put together and some of the characters had outstanding development, but just about as many other characters seemed a bit useless and barely had any introduction. I guess I was all right with that since they were essentially pretty standard and unimportant, but a little more background on them wouldn't have hurt. Without spoiling too much here, Noomi Rapace's character may have been slightly convoluted and some of her interactions with some of the characters didn't make complete sense to me, i.e. there were times when some of the characters didn't question her motives as much as they needed to, namely towards the end. I won't give them away but there were just some odd plot turns and unexpected moments that didn't seem possible or to make sense, or just weren't explained in the slightest bit. I thought it would answer more questions about the Alien franchise (since it's "somewhat" of a prequel) but I left with even more questions than before. Overall it was a mostly enjoyable sci-fi film with plenty of amazing set designs, good action and scares, and some pretty awesome-looking creatures to spare. Performances hit the right notes (particularly Michael Fassbender and Logan Marshall-Green) and the ending was even more thought-provoking. Not to mention the visual effects--they were a blast, and though much of it left me a bit skeptical, the plot still had some very rich elements that managed to hold me in suspense. I'd say I recommend it, but what did all of you think?
