He's being a rebellious teenager. Except because he's so famous it is on a bigger scale and a bigger stage.

 

I would also guess that he's tired of people calling him a wimp, wuss, etc... so he lashes out to try to prove he's not a wimp you can just walk on.

 

But I'm probably wrong. I'm not a psychologist. It just seems to me he's trying to change his image because he's not a little kid anymore.

People on the internet in general have been obsessed with him for a long time. The last two or three things he did were actually deserving of hate, but so many edgy internet neckbeards have hated on the kid for stupid reasons for so long I just can't hate on him or really care about him either way, since any hate he gets now, whether justified or not, will only remind me of all the vapid, groan-worthy BS bashing the kid got beforehand. If anything some of this hate he got all the time may have contributed to the overall attention he got that made him become more conceited.

It's pretty hard to feel bad for anyone involved in this.  Justin is an idiot and so are the people who consider themselves his fans.  If they are willing to take his spit with open arms then that's their initiative and that's what fandom like this has devolved into. 

It's not really anything new when celebrities treat the people that love them like dirt.
