Vocalist? Plant. Everything else? Cobain.

Plant by miles. Why do people always mention Dio? I've seen him in concert a few times and hes pretty boring. Halford is WAY better.Dio!

I think Dio has one of the best voices in metal.
Robert Plant no contest. He has the greatest scream in rock lore, too bad it's gone..
But Sebastian Bach >> all.
I was in highschool when nirvana launched nevermind. I loved that album and bought every nirvana album because of it. nirvana is awesome, but if you think about it it makes no sense. His lyrics are just gibberish heroin talk for the most part, themusic sound awesome but have little meaning to anyone else but him,and apart fromsounding like an angry or high whitedude he cant sing for shi* so nirvana is the coolest band that actually sucked ever. LEd zeppelin is from a different era altogether but Robert Plant is an aweome vocalist. so Id pick Led zeppelin over nirvana any day.

I love Bach's voice, but... no.
haha I dunno been listening to alot of Skid Row lately so I'm a bit biased.
But he's one of my favorites. Plant of course is better and Dio.
Yeah. People make a huge deal over Kurt's lyrics, as if he's one of the best lyricists ever. I know it's all subjective, but as you said, his lyrics were...relatively gibberish. It read out like high-school angst poetry on an acid trip. Was Nirvana cool? Yeah, absolutely. I'll agree with pretty much everything you said(although I was a wee bit young for highschool at the time, I recall when nevermind came out) I think it is a bit silly to compare the two bands. From different eras, different sounds. Even comparing vocalists, they had differing styles.I was in highschool when nirvana launched nevermind. Odd comparison. Kurt Cobain. Cause I don't care much for Led Zeppelin. I like some of Plants solo stuff though. Fate of Nations is a very good album.
[QUOTE="roleplayer2004"]Whaaaaaaaat. This is like, the pot calling the kettle black. I'm sorry, any time anyone complains about one overrated band and then favors another severely overrated band, it just makes me giggle. I hate when people throw out "pretentious" when discussing musicians. It makes absolutely no sense and is apt to assault any band with a quality album. I mean, would Nirvana not be pretentious for trying to make the best pop song of all time with "Smells Like Teen Spirit"? How dare they have such ambition and self importance, to think themselves able! /sarcasm Cobain is "convincing", sincere and all that. You know who else is? Jeff Mangum, Tom Waits, Bruce Springsteen, Justin Vernon, Win Butler, and hundreds of others. He's fascinating because he died young in his prime, so instead of declining naturally like most musicians over time, he died at his peak and his death spurred his popularity to martyrdom levels. Note the common theme: Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, Tupac, BIG, etc.Interesting. I still prefer Cobain over plant. I still think Led Zeppelin are one of the most overrated bands of all time. Seriously if you compare the two bands Nirvana by far have made better quality records and plant does sound a bit too pretentious. Cobain is still the most fascinating and convincing vocalist from my perspective.

Janis Joplin doesn't get nearly as much recognition as the rest of the Dead Heads or Twenty-Seven Club.

True. She just happened to come to mind, my art teacher in HS was obsessed with her. Please Log In to post.
