It amuses me that some people on here are still convinced that the LHC will kill us when it actually starts doing collisions. Read about it some more, and you'll find there's little chance at all of everything getting 'destroyed'.ferretzor

i just hope they don't get too cocky and excited, may the lord be with us all if they miscalculate a few variables and send us all into a short time continual loop. i hate redundancyshyskillz
I hate redundancy too. In any case, I'm fairly certain we're not going to die.

if everyone starts having extreme cases of deja vu then you'll know why..

haha lol
I dont see why everyone is so worried about this machine. They're sciencists, they SHOULD know what their doing.clyde46
Many scientists have died because they thought they knew what they were doing :P. anyway stephen hawking is in on this whole LHC thats why im not going to worry bout it. Hes a pretty smart guy,and if he says nothing bad will happen then its good enough for me. unless he despises everyone because we can all walk, and he knows it will destory us :( than bad mister hawkings!!! bad!

I think hes got a bet on, if he loses (the LHC doesnt blow up the world) then he gets a noble peace prize but if he wins (the LHC does blow up the world) then hes gets £100.

His bet is actually $100 over whether they will find the 'Higgs boson', which is a 'particle that gives mass to all other particles'. Not over whether the world will end. In regards to the Nobel price, he stated that he would surely recieve one if the LHC creates a black hole that showed the properties he predicts, although he says the chances are probably around less than 1%.[QUOTE="floridaskater05"][QUOTE="clyde46"]I dont see why everyone is so worried about this machine. Heh SHOULD the optimal word. Mars Rover anyone, half the calculations were in feet the other half in meters..... KABOOM!!! I say bring it on, Im ready.

Dr. Freeman will save us if anything goes wrong!
if they knew exactly what was going to happen when they started doing collisions there would be no point in building the thing and actually doing it. the whole point is to explore the unknown.

hopefully it creates a blackhole that sucks up mc cain... so we can stop spitting billions into iraq, and spit more into the mouths of americans. W00t
