Last night I gave this homeless guy some money

So last night me and a few friends were out drinking.

I was kinda drunk and this homeless guy walks up to me and asks for some money so he can buy a burger. I was kinda out of it so said 'sureeee' and handed him some money. The homeless guy then put the money in his mounth and spat it back out before putting it in his pocket. Then he grinned and said 'Im gonna buy some pills'

Cheeky. Have you ever had an encounter with a bum?

Yeah, but I don't give them anything

I have, there are many of them close to my University. I just ignore them.

Rarely to homeless people. I do give buskers something though pretty much each time i passed.
Last Christmas eve i felt generous walking through my town centre on the way back to see my family, and some guy was playing the accordion. I gave him what i had left in my pocket left from that day. It was totally worth it though :).

It depends most of the time. If I got it on me, I like to help people out every now and then.

My friends and I went to this pizza place that served GIANT slices of pizza. The average person couldd NOT finish this slice in one setting. Were walking down the street and this homeless guy and his friends yell "OOOHHLAYY" (my friend was wearing a sombrerro, dont ask why.) He then comes to us saying "I want to thank you for helping us" "You know what i'd do to you?"

Me: WHAT!?

The he proceedes to tell us sad stories about his wife and how they obtain food daily. So we gave him our giant pizzas.

I see the same homeless people every Spring and Summer. I change my beard often and even path to work. I run into the same ones all the time, and they always have a different story. I memorized the location of a shelter that gives food and more assistance than I ever could afford. I tell them to go there. I doubt they ever do.

There's a lot of homeless in the downtown area where I live. Believe me, the last thing they are spending the money on is food, they're using it for alcohol and/or drugs. They know where to go for free meals. I was asked for money for food a few times but instead of giving them money I offered to run in and get them a sandwich or burger, they usually turn down the offer and say they would rather cash. One guy I bought a burger for and when I handed it to him he threw it at me and started cursing at me. The majority of these people are mentally unstable and just looking for money for booze, cigarettes, or drugs.shannonbud

I'll never forget this one guy, all sweaty, asking for money so he could buy insulin for his diabetes. I offered to call someone he knows or 911, because he claimed he might break down. There was a cop down the street and when I offered to wave him over, he disappeared.

Yah, I once was walking downtown late at night, and some bum sitting tucked up in this corner asked me for weed. It was awkward.

One time a few years back, I was drunk out at the clubs. Beer was $3.50 each and I would pay with a five and get $1.50 back after every one. After about 10 or so beer, I had a pocket full of change and I gave it to a homeless man who was standing outside. I told him to buy a sandwich but Id say he bought something else.

I've had many encounters with bums.. Whether they need some money for the bus, or some crackhead saying they need to feed their kids which are nowhere to be seen. I have given in to a few people though.. Like the last time I gave some dude money he said he needed somethin to eat at this gas station. I told him i'd give him some but he better not come out that store without food. I didnt leave to see if he actually did buy some food and he did.. So there are some legit bums out there but most of the time not.

I have given people food before. I will never give someone money though. Any time i get asked for money i offer to take them to the waffle house or to burger king to grab some food and they almost always decline.

He's not even homeless. Just because he asked you for money doesn't mean he's homeless. I don't give strangers money who ask for it. It's ineffective charity. You're better off working through an orginzation or buying the food for them yourself..

People go around asking for money and can make a good living off of it because people like you give it to them. You're the source of all the worlds problems.

Whenever a homeless guy asks me for food, I get on a boat and go far out too sea, and catch some fresh lobster, cook them up, and then give them to the homeless guy.

I'm just doing whatever I can to help.

I'll never forget my first experience with a hobo. I was in bestbuy shopping in the DVD section and had my keys in hand about to leave when this guy comes up and I thought he was asking me where the local stadium was. I try and be a good person and tell him how to get there when he stops me and asks me to take him there. Take some random guy in my car 20 miles? Ummm.. No. So I moved around the store waiting for him to leave. lol

Rarely more than a dollar or two, but I always give something if I have it on me.

Many times. If I ever do give money, it's follwed by a "God bless you."

Dare I do it....

There is a HUGE problem with homelessnes where I live. At least every hour, there is someone going through the dumpster near my flat. It's pretty sad. I usually don't carry money on me anymore, but I leave my bottles and cans outside and the dumpster divers will take them real quick.

I don't give homeless people money nor do I feed pigeons.

Most of the time, right before they ask me i quickly say have you got any money? Always shuts them up.

I've given a homeless dude money before. God knows what he spent it on though. Probably beer :P

Not one that bad

If I have a few bucks to spare I might hand it out if I am feeling sympathetic..

My friend Logan years ago on his 21st birthday was hammered drunk, and we were on our way back to the car to go home. This bummy looking guy comes up to us and gives us this sob story about how he ran out of gas and money on his way home out of town from doing some construction job. So the guys asks for whatever he can get to help him make it home. My friend Logan starts talking with the guy and they are being alll buddy buddy, arms around eachother talkin away.. Logan gives the guy 20 bucks, and they keep talking still buddy buddy.. Finally Logan asks the guy straight up, "Are you BS'n me, or are you really trying to get home? It's cool if you are, I understand." The guy replies as he thought they were all buddy buddy "Yeah I'm BS'n you man I live a few blocks away" Logan flips out and smacks the grown man like striaght slap to the face SO HARD! And starts lecturing this guy on the value of trust screaming at the guy, until the cops get there.. It was quite intense.

Perhaps if they asked me for food, or some sort of soft drink, I would give them one, however I would never give them money, because they're most likely not spend it on food, etc.
