In Canadian Politics its a little different,
I would consider myself to be Conservative, which would land me smack in the middle of the American Democrats and Republican parties.
Why am I more right leaning?
Originally I was very left wing mostly through University where I simply didn't know better, after finishing with a degree in Finance and Economics and working for a half dozen years in the realm of reality was that far to many left leaning programs just are not viable, and I consider debt repayment and tax cuts to be very important to the future of our economy items that the more left leaning folks disagree with me on.
Socially I am middle of the road, I understand the need for Health Care and Welfare I just think it could be done better.
right wing. i like the idea of individual rights
and no, im not a christiansocial-conservative. thats not real conservatism

H8s, I'm not in any way trying to pick a fight here with you, I enjoy the opposing viewpoint from mine you usually hold. But wouldn't you think that, especially now, the left side of politics is more for individual rights. The "right-wing" administration we have now has taken more rights away than any in at least 60 years.

its cool
nah, i dont think that at all. but im not saying republicans are exactly upholding individual rights either.
im a ron paul guy, if that answers anything for you.
george bush is a neocon. neo cons actually have a lot of roots in left wing politics. real conservatism has been dying even before reagan got in.

Yes Taylor, but you are referring to Neoconservatism. What H8 refers to is traditional conservative values. Small government and low taxes. And IMO, no religious intervening with government.

Well that makes more sense. I have to disagree on the less government, we have many more people and just don't think it's possible now, but taxes on the other hand, I think they take enough as is, just wildly misspend it (both parties). And I very, very strongly agree with you LikeHaterade on the religious part. It has no part or place in government.

A viewpoint that, though I disagree with, I can respect. True conservatives are a dying breed in national politics today. BTW, I consider myself pretty far left-leaning as far as US politics are concerned, though probably more moderate on a global scale.

I think it could work, i believe people are better than government. for example, if we let it get out of hand we might get something a lot like what we have. and corporations are getting billions of dollars in handouts and corporate welfare, its not letting capitalism do its trick by weeding out poor business practice/abuse.
another good example is kmart. that company was down for 9, ready for the 10 count. somehow (corpoate welfare) they got enough money to buy sears holdings (and refer to it as a merger, oddly enough) and lo and behold sears started doing worse, because they implemented kmart practices (one being abusing employees)
the good thing about capitalism is, even if you think you run the show and are on top of the world, you really dont run the show and you can be taken down quite easily. I think the internet is a pretty nice example of little regulation working out very well.
You guys should take this test. This will tell you what the heck you are: http://www.politicalcompass.org/testSimpJee
Apparently, im Hitler.
I'm in the Aisle row, actually.
but in terms of politics, According to Political Compass I am, Left Wing Libertarian
I'm a goalie.
What, this isn't about hockey? YOU TRICKED ME!!!
EDIT: I took the test, I'm a left wing libertarian.

Again we agree, I think anyone who whines about welfare is not looking at the big picture and how much goes to corporations, that's not usually released in the annual budget so we have no clear idea of how much money it truly is. I think most government agency's or programs need to be hybrids, run by private companies, with help or oversight from the government with a profit cap. Ensure they make some money, but have it capped at a certain amount. Like with universal health care, have the government oversee the few huge insurance companies and give them each regions of the country. But you are right capitalism, run right without too much oversight is true survival of the fittest.
I'm right wing, because I hate foreigners, love screwing over the little people, believe women should always hit the glass ceiling, and I smoke Cuban cigars provided by my man-servant Alejandro.
I also only listen to the radio when the man with the golden microphone is on.

Is that an insult to right-wingers, or people who insult right-wingers? I can't tell.:(
Or. . . .were you being serious? .>.>.

Guessing game!I'd say that I lean more on the right wing, but this quiz doesn't really show that...
I didn't take too much time to think about the choices though, if I did I'm sure that it would be a bit different.
I am a libertarian on most issues. One of the things that may make me different from other libertarians is Abortion...i think the states should decide whether it is okay or not (but not the federal government). Another is immigration. I don't think anyone who wants to should be able to just come to this country. There needs to be laws and limits on immigration.
Edit: also...i hate alot of those internet tests. They assume you believe certain things in some of the questions so it isn't completely accurate. A better test would be like "do you believe in X" or "should the government be able to do X" you know? Questions with yes or no answers.
according to that test thing i am...
I dont really know what all these terms mean, to be totally honest...i just have my opinion. Someone mind explaining what this graph means i am? :s::lol:

You're a Left-wing Libertarian. You believe people should be allowed to do just about whatever they like as long as it doesn't interfere with the rights of others, and you believe that no law should be placed to stop them from doing it. Odds are you believe things like marijuana and abortion should be legal.

That is pretty much correct, i would say.
