Can anyone recommend me a good legal music download sight. Napster has done an epic fail and only has half the tracks from the band i'm after. Problem is they are the only ones I have ever used.

Also and very important, it needs to be stuff which I can upload into my mobile, which I use as an ipod with Windows media player.

I seriously hate illegal downloading as it saddens me. ***COMMENT REMOVED BY MODERATOR*** Also i'm not interested in using U-Tube as that's just as bad (except for looking at the music video's) and i'm after full quality.

Any help to quicken my search will be appreciated.

MODERATOR'S NOTE: We appreciate that you have taken great precautions to make sure your topic stays legal, but please don't say that you are going to report people or shove things up their nether-regions ;) That can be construed as trolling.

That would be an option if 90% of the stuff anybody wants has an "album only" restriction on it which forces you to buy $15 worth of stuff for $1 of what you want. In the end, for stuff that is rare or unreleased its no cheaper or easier than buying the entire disc off ebay.

Evidently it worked for them which is nice. I just usually have bad luck on this sort of stuff with itunes. They either dont have it or i cant get it seperate.

I've found some other one called 'Legalsounds' but they failed also. Damn I must be totally off the Mainstream  well i'll look into Itunes more to be sure that it will work ok. If so then my problems over.

Why does no one know about Spiralfrog?

Spiralfrog

It's not without a hitch. The music has DRM on it, but it's friggin free and legal, and it's probably the best deal you'll get.

(although i'm not sure if they will actually do anything about but i'll still give it a shot). Also i'm not interested in using U-Tube as that's just as bad (except for looking at the music video's) and i'm after full quality.

It is spelt "website" and stop trying to act all big and mighty... "illegal downloading" and downloading for free is pretty much the same thing, so what you really want is something illegal anyway... >_>.

Why don't you buy the cds, then make them into mp3s with better sound quality than you can buy online? That's what I do.

I've looked at Play.com; their tracks cost about 65p, they're DRM free, and use a decent bitrate and universal format, 320kb/s MP3. iTunes in comparison costs 74p I think, which is $1.47 per track.

Technically, it's not illegal to download music. But it is illegal to distribute music that you don't own the rights to.

MP3 Fiesta

This is by far the best one I know of. It's completely legal, the quality matches iTunes, and it's about 20 cents a song, or around 2 bucks per album. I get all my music from there. I've been using it for a LONG time now, and it's completely safe.

That's what I ended up doing in the end. It' the best way.

I don't know what your talking about with regards to legal downloading being illegal. Was that just some random rambling from a random guy or can someone post some proof of that. I can guess where your coming from as they don't quite make as much revenue as they would of you brought the actual CD but I still can't see it being illegal. There is a difference. I'll happily shout at the top of my lungs that I brought 3 albums and 24 tracks with my Napster account. Come get me, i use my real name as my gamespot account. Some how I don't think the police are going to come dragging me out the bed at night. However the Grammar police seem to be hot on the case.

ok first off, gamespot sounds like they don't know sh** about music.

if you want to buy go to amazon MP3, without a doubt the best music store.

256kbps, often times vbr, cheap albums, best of all DRM free not that low quality crap itunes, rhapsody feeds the people, can't go wrong with that.

spiralfrog is the worst s*** ever, it may be free, but DRM crapsong 128kbps wma...no thanks.

-----

if you want to stream full albums online go to deezer.com or a more intelligent online radio is pandora.com.

That tends to be the place where a lot of the bands Myspace Music sites direct you to. Which is what confused me with all this 'downloading music is illegal even when it's legal' crap that was being splurt out by someone earlier.

And they say everyone is entitled to their opinion. I wish some people would just shut up.

Edit: (thanks by the way)

amazon is the best, it's DRM free and the quality isn't bad. Also there's a lot of band on amazon that other site doesn't have. And you can't beat their daily deal price. I got the new 3 doors down album for 99 cents lol

I'm going to echo Spiralfrog again, because it's free. As in, you don't pay anything. I think there's a monthly survey to fill out, or something.

I use it when I want to test out music before buying it(well, if it's available on Spiralfrog, that is). It has DRM but it's not incredible restrictive(no burning on CDs, 2 portable player cap, no ipod/zune.
