nbtrap1212

You confuse lazy ppl that start using pot with ppl who start using pot and become lazy. And why would legalizing be so bad if the Netherlands have amongst the lowest percentages of weed addicts of any (Western) country in the world?! It sure is legal there...

Just because the Netherlands have few addicts doesn't mean it's because the drug is legal.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but I would bet you're a pot-head yourself (I can't imaine a straight-edged person supporting its legalization). So, I'm arguing with a pot-head...there's really no way out of this.

A lot of people that support legalization rarely smoke it, and some don't smoke it at all. If I support alcohol does that make me an alcoholic? It doesn't. You're jumping to false conclusions.

If you're a closed-minded butthole then skip this video...

If you actually want to make up your own mind instead of letting the government tell you how to think then watch this documentary. It's called Grass, it's a documentary on the history of the war on marijuana directed by Ron Mann.

If you think it's more just to spend billions of dollars imprisoning people who hurt no one, instead of feeding and clothing the poor and rebuilding the education system, then may god have mercy on your soul.

Yes, for a number of reasons

Well, the war of drugs is failing......badly every year, the U.S. spends about 10 billion dollars on punishing people who are in possession, though if legalized, the goverment could likely make that

1. Every country that has legalized it has seen a drop in use

2. Every country that has legalized it has seen a dramatic drop in crime.

3. The war on drugs is expensive and unafective, if legalized, dramaic cuts to this failed program could save the U.S. alot of money.

4. If legalized the goverment could tax it, most people don't relize that marijuana produces more profit than any other currentally grown in the U.S. despite being illegal, with legalization it would be helping the economy, instead of fueling the black market as it currentally does.

5. If legalized the goverment and companys could regulate the quality, lowering related injurys.

Pot is nowhere near as bad as alcohol and cigarettes, so I don't see why not. Besides, it's good for your heart to smoke pot if you do it in moderation.

Neither do bums who smoke marijuanna and proud, hard working Americans.
nbtrap1212

They are not opposites... Practically all weed smokers I know work hard aswell. And no they don't come to work being stoned.

I disagree.  Bums who drop out of high-school smoke marijuanna, and I'm sure only a small portion of pot-heads are successful in life.

I smoke Pot, and I graduated College with a double major.  90 percent of my friends smoke it as well and work full time making a good living.

Why don't we drop the misconceptions which ended up stigmitizing Pot the way it is in the first place?  DARE does stand for Drug Awareness Resistance Eduation.  Well it'd be nice to start off with a factual "Eduation" on the subject.

Marijuana is not physically addictive, you cannot over dose on it, and not all users are brain dead losers.  Case in point, MYSELF.

And last but not least, what I ingest of inhale is none of your business nor the government's as long as I'm not hurting anyone.

Schizophrenia is a mental disorder, and pot in no way induces it.

In these cases, the people suffering from the disease use it to suppress their condition.

this argument is looking at the mistakes of society and saying "but if we already do that, why can't we do this too?" the main problem with alcohol is that because it is legal to buy, people have it then they get drunk and try to drive home and hit somebody if alcohol was illegal from the beginning, the problem would be almost nonexistent how is pot any different?

First of all it makes you a better driver...I've driven 40,000+ miles stoned and I've never been pulled over in my life, let alone been involved in an accident or caused one. Secondly you're doing the exact same thing, comparing it to alcohol. Being stoned makes your mind active, being drunk makes your mind retarded. Cannabis and driving

  • Cannabis could help computer players, says firm, by Kevin Lowry

RESEARCH for a computer game company has found a small amount of cannabis could help players' performance, making them drive faster and safer.

The experiment was carried out for Acclaim Entertainment to see how cannabis would affect people playing its new game, Burnout. A group of 20 experienced games enthusiasts and drivers between 21 and 40 took part in the test to study reaction times, speed, concentration levels and road safety.

Ten of them then smoked about 0.15 milligrams of cannabis, or about half a "joint", while the other ten had had no stimulant for at least 72 hours prior to the test. They were then given a demonstration of Burnout and asked to take the controls.

The researchers say 80 per cent of those who had smoked cannabis demonstrated superior reaction times to those who had not. About 60 per cent finished a lap faster, while 70 per cent experienced a lower number of collisions, and more than half reached a higher level in the game.

When playing in competition with each other, the drivers who had smoked cannabis won eight out of the ten matches. The company claims drivers under the influence of cannabis appeared to have more confidence in their ability and be much calmer.

Simon Smith-Wright, Burnout's communications director, admitted the findings do not translate into real life, but insisted small amounts of the drug helped driving.

He said: "The results of our tests clearly indicate that a small or moderate amount of cannabis is actually quite beneficial to someone's driving performance.

He's right to say that cannabis does not induce it at all. After researching it extensively, the only conclusion one can logically come to is that cannabis alerts a person to the illness before anything else can. How is it bad to diagnose it early? I don't think you can possibly be serious about being "anti-drugs" and have Robert Plant in your sig. It just doesn't work. Do I detect sarcasm or are you seriously that...ignorant/blind/deluded/? I can't think of any other term to describe your attitude towards an early diagnosis for a disease that can only be helped with an early diagnosis.

Sorry to bump a flamebait topic, but I think it should be legalised...with limits. Marijuana can, like any drug, become addictive and damaging, but so can cigarettes and alcohol. Therefore, it should only be available in small quantities, and be heavily taxed...basically like smokes. Hopefully it would serve to deglamourise hard drugs, and give dedicated users their hit in a regulated way.

Has there ever actually been any recorded fatalities due to the use of marijuana? How many deaths are caused a year due to alcohol and cigarettes? This is a song by a british artist calle The Streets, it puts things into perspective very nicely Click Here

Besides all of the propaganda saying that it's bad for you (which it isn't), cigarette companies have already patented marijuana cigarettes (which I will never touch, I won't touch anything made by a cigarette company) because they expect it to be legalized soon.  There is even a group of law enforcement officers who are against its prohibition.

It's much better for you than cigarettes, without the addiction potential.

you sure about that? i have doubts that the government would protect a now-illegal product by trademark by allowing its registration. i do remember in copyright we read an older case where a court refused to protect a porn company's copyright interest in a movie it made against infringement because those movies were illegal in that jurisdiction.

Never should they be legalized, and i think of marijuana as a "gateway" drug. You try it and you want something harder and you try some hardcore drugs like cocaine or heroin, and then your life starts to hit rock bottom.

The country would be much better off making it legal. We would stop pouring money into a useless, flawed, and failed "War on Drugs". We would stop putting people in jail for minor non-violent crimes. And the biggest benefit of all, we would be taking away a major source of revenue for violent drug cartels, which are directly responsible for hundreds if not thousands of people being killed every year. Compare that to the number of people killed by simply smoking pot every year, and you realize what the bigger problem is.

Ok, guys, learn something before posting. Marijuana is only as addictive as caffein. No physical addiction is possible, only slight mental addiction. Like chocolate. It slightly reduces risk of cancer. IT DOES NOT CAUSE LUNG CANCER Nobody has ever died from smoking marijuana. They might have died while high, but not because of the marijuana. Only bad choices while high, just like alcohol. Marijuana users are less depressed Daily marijuana use does not damage your brain. Links for sources of these and many more reasons to smoke marijuana here: http://questionthemark.org/2006/12/22/25-reasons-to-smoke-marijuana.aspx Do some research.

I drove stoned one time and I actually drove better than normal, I was paying more attention to driving because I was a little paranoid about getting pulled over. I wasn't toasted, where all I could think about was food, but I was high. I forgot where I was going though so I just drove around listening to The Doors.

It's far less harmful than a cigarette will ever be. That's a scientific fact.

Also, no one has EVER overdosed on marijuana, and it is no more dangerous then alcohol (less then alcohol, actually), even if you only factor in it's ability to **** your perception.

It's NOT a fact. There are tons of conflicting research. The truth is that not enough long term research has been done yet. the verdict is still out. Personally, I believe legalization would have positives and negatives. the government would no doubt regulate it to the bone. Does this mean I couldn't buy my kine anymore? I like good weed with crystals. Would the government take all privatization? It depends on the circumstances. As far as all drugs being legalized? That would be very harmful to society and foolish. Soon, all the taxes gained from the drugs would be used to open government rehab facilities because hardcore drugs are indeed addictive and dangerous.

Most successful "stoners" aren't upfront about their smoking.
