Did anyone else think the movie was kinda boring? I appreciated the camera angles and pacing but it was overall lame.

Kori-san

Yea, I thought the movie was boring only because i read the book. Interesting note: Every time Eli makes a killing the camera angle changes the view to how a bystander saw it in his or her own eyes, even her eyes if no one saw the attack.

Because it adds a whole new insight on BOTH the vampire AND the boy! Thus it sheds light on motivations, actions, and overall character depth. Not to mention it adds sympathy, etc. You don't know who you are until you know where you've been (or something like that)

spazzx625

Having more information about something doesn't necessarily mean the information is enlightening or crucial to the story, though. That's all I'm saying.

You might be correct in some cases (I can't think of any, but Im sure there are some). It's all opinion anyway. But I really think you are missing out on quite a bit of insight and 'the stories within the story'.

Especially in this movie. For me, it's the ONLY interesting element in this borefest. Think about it: WHY did the vampire make that choice? Why not stick with what it was BEFORE the change. And the fact the protagonist accepts it that way without question. I can't believe you can watch the movie again armed with that knowledge and see it in a whole different light. That's all I'm saying.

Well I saw the original last night and I thought it was alright, i'll definitly see the remake.

For spazz and others talking about her origin, I heard they were taking out the ''i;m not a girl'' subplot.

This is movie was incredible, and I can already imagine the U.S. remake putting people off from seeing the original because it will be so damn atrocious. It's SO hard to get people to watch the original Shutter now...

That's probably true...Ignorance is bliss in this case. I've been meaning to read the novel, I suppose I will do that before seeing this "remake".

I thought the original was absolutely great. I see no point in a remake, and I have a feeling it will pale in comparison, as remakes almost always do.

Oh, I think it needed it. The original has some interesting concepts that could have been executed better. Plus, I really didn't like the casting.

They also need to go into the background of the vampire, like hopefully cover her origin.

But honestly, I'm getting sick of vampire movies.

Why do we (the viewer) need to know her origin? I think the only reason this is getting remade is so it will not be subtitled so more people will see it.

Easy way to make some moniez. :D

Since americans would get offended by this movie if they knew her origin they will probaby not even mention it but hint at it very subtly if at all

I think it has some potential. The cast looks very good. Richard Jenkins is a fantastic actor, and I like Kodi smit-Mcphee, and Chloe Moretz. My worry with the remake is the director Matt Reeves. I thought Cloverfield was mediocre and he doesn't seem to be very good with characters. I may be wrong though I wish they choose a more experienced and better director like Terry Gilliam, Ang Lee, Jean Pierre Jeunet, Michael Haneke, John Hillcoat, Richard Linklater, Guillermo Del toro, Mike Leigh, Sam Mendes, or Paul Thomas Anderson. All those guys would have been better choices. I won't judge the remake yet, but I love the original film and book so I am very skeptical.

I thought the Let the Right One In was similar(in a good way) to Pan's Labyrinth, too bad he isn't directing the remake.

Pan's labrynth was in spanish and subtitled so..wouldnt the director be spanish? If they are aiming for an english version I dunno if they'd use him.

Meh i like the foreign language used. Makes it seem distant, yet real.

Let The Right One In is excellent. A remake is unnecessary.super_mario_128

Agreed, I think the foreign language makes it a lot better to be honest.

Guillermo Del Toro is Mexican, but he has done movies in English...Blade 2, Hellboy 1 and 2, and he's working on the Hobbit now.
