You know how there stuff thats not a big deal at all in real life but is in highschool...

My favorite was the no tolerance cell phone policy which was absurd...if anybody even saw it they'd take it from you you dont even have to be on it. I dont see the big deal about using your phone every once in a while during an 8 hour day of nonsense...if you wanna send a quick text message which takes all of 5 seconds between classes (or even during, your loss i say) or lunch or something I dont see why thats so bothersome.

no hats in the school premises My school once hosted a summer school, and we had different principal and vice principal at that particular time just for the summer school, and they thought it was great idea to ban hats in the entire school premises. That means on the fields, in the courtyard, etc, and not just in classrooms. And we also happened to have one of the hottest summers in the century that year.

Most of the rules in HS are funny once you get out of HS, I mean looking back you had to sign out to leave campus and whatnot, it's outrageous to think of doing something like that now, you lose so much freedom once you step through those doors.

When you rope down from the roof of the school onto a window, then rubbing your private parts onto the window while pouring Cool Whip on your nipples, and singing the theme from Terminator. I'm pretty sure you would get expelled for doing that.

OK I have one. Not being able to leave during lunch at my last high school. Also we couldn't play with poker chips at school cause we could possibly be exchanging money after school (which was never part of the plan)

We couldn't wear sweatshirts or coats in the science room. Then again, no one would ever want to. It was literally 90 degrees in that room.

My school had no hats unless it was Hat Day then you can wear a hat that day.

I also hated having this stupid sign-in sheets that you had to fill out and then have a Teacher sign you out if you had to go to the Nurse or Restroom. So they knew when you left and when you came back so if somebody vandalized something they will question you if it happened when you were signed out.

If you filled it up the teacher will give you another sheet. If you lost it you would have to go to the Office and spend $5 just to get a replacement.

By this logic we should ban breasts from school. You can hide high explosives in there. Don't mod me mods!

Not so much a rule, but in our school they were always funny about letting you go to the toilet, like you could be on the verge of tears and they would still say your not leaving the class. I mean come on when you gotta go you gotta go :|

I didn't have any rules in high-school. :| None of the above ,atleast.the only guideline was to "try not to break the school". schools here have no clout what so ever,a kid could beat a teacher bloody and stay in school. I wish we had that kind of dicipline.you should consider yourself lucky.

i can understand why a school wouldn't want kids to use their cell phones during class, but honestly, the teacher stopping class and trying to take up the student's cell phone, only to have the student say "omg i didn't have it out!" and the teacher says "yes you did i saw it", that goes on for about 5 minutes, the teacher finally gets the phone, that is much more of a disruption than just letting students text.

I believe a high school nowadays need strict rules but suspending someone for bring their I.D. to school is a bit over the top.

No laptops, no chewing gum, only water for a drink, no cell phones, no trading cards/pokemon, no yo-yos, no gambling

alright maybe the last one is reasonable

Brainkiller05

1. No laptop - to make you concentrate. Your parents/government don't pay for your education for nothing.
2. No chewing gum - this is because people gum under desks and stuff.
3. Only water for a drink - I think this is because if a drink spills, it would be hard to clean up a mess. Except water. And they would obviously want to promote water-drinking.
4. No cellphones - They disturb the lesson. I don't know about your school, but in my school they were allowed during breaks or if they were "turned off and out of sight" during c1ass.
5. No yo-yos - wat?I guess you'd have that rule so no one gets hit by a yo-yo. We had that rule for Beyblades.

I'm honestly not much complainer and I understand al ot of rules, but my Junior year of highschool had a really stupid rule. We had to wear ID's everyday on campus, and if we didn't the school suspended you for a day. Their were alot suspensions...

muffincakes87

My other school also used to have that rule. It's to be able to distinguish who belongs in the school and who doesn't.

Not letting us drink fizzy juice or bring food that was not bought in the school into it... Which is really stupid because loads of people bring packed lunches and nobody did anything about it but the drinks thing was annoying...Stupid rules in my opinion.

One from my school that I abso-freaking-lutely love: I can't have a mohawk, yet other kids can shave numbers, words, and style their hair into corn-rolls and dreads. It's not so much aggravating as it is senseless.

No chewing gum and no drinks other than water. Though my friend was a huge soda dealer in high school for a short period of time. He made around $200 worth of sales after two months.

That goes back a really long time when if you wore a hat you had to take it off when you went into a building because it isn't polite if you didn't take your hat off.

"Etiquette considers it impolite for men to wear hats or other head coverings indoors. A hat may be worn in the corridors and elevator of a public building, but the hat should be removed upon entering a room. Men should always remove hats in places of worship, when sitting at a table for a formal meal, and when a national anthem is playing. These rules also apply to women if wearing unisex hats, such as baseball caps, but do not apply to head coverings used due to religious beliefs, such as those worn by Sikhs and many orthodox Jewish men.

A man is not compelled to remove his hat if suffering from an illness which would cause embarrassment (e.g. a person suffering from hair loss due to cancer therapy).

Traditionally (until the mid 1960s), most women considered it mandatory to wear a hat when outside of one's home, such as when in public, while visiting others, and especially in houses of worship. When following these traditional etiquette rules, a woman must remove her hat when indoors after dark, and should never wear one in her own home while hosting"

That is a quote from Wikipedia about proper Etiquette in North America.

Damn your lucky about the music thing. I wish iPods were allowed when I was in high school i probably would have concentrated more and done my work...instead I just sat there bored talking and messing around with whoever was around me..pretty much the exact opposite situation of what they're going for with that one...

-wear your ID at all times. In order to get in the school in the mornings you have to be wearing your ID. what really pissed me off, is the fact that even if your ID is in your car or locker, they made you buy a new one. they would not let you go back to your car or go to your locker to get your ID. and the ID's cost 5 bucks. i wasted around 30 bucks over the course of the year, because i either left mine in my locker or my car. its retarded. imo.

-if you get caught with a phone whether it is on or off, its an immediate two day suspension.

-if your phone goes off(text or call) while it is in your locker and a teacher hears it, its a two day suspension.

-no hats

-no sweatpants, though my school isnt too strict about that rule. id say the only exception to that rule would be the sweatpants you get from Jostens that say Senior on the side, as it is school related.

-no jackets in classes. some teachers even tried to make me take off my hoodie that zips up, so i went to the principle and she was fine with it. Take that!:P

-No Skulls on clothes. i break that rule alot, i have a hoodie that has two skulls on the shoulders, but its not easily noticable.

-No holes whatsoever in your pants. whether they are big or small. they make you wear gym shorts for the rest of the day. stupid rule imo.

-No IPOD,MP3 player etc.

-once you get 2 tardies you get an after school detention, a 3rd results in a saturday. i absolutely hate this rule.

-no drinks/food in classroom.

-miss more than ten days of school without a doctors not, you lose all credits for that semester.

thats all i can think of for now

I had most of those rules at the High School I attended. The only one I didn't have was The ID and the no Sweatpants. But we also had No Camo rule which was weird because alot of the students had Camo because they hunted and parts of their clothes had Camo. The only time we were allowed an iPod, MP3 Player, or CD player was in Art Class because the teacher said if it helps you consentrate on what your doing you can listen to whatever you wanted. He would even sometimes have a TV and DVD player and play concert films for people that didn't have an iPod/MP3 Player etc.

You must buy our official water bottle to drink water, and ONLY water, in class. The water bottle costs $5, and some teachers are allowed to not permit them within the classroom. Also, you must wear your ID badge. If you do not, you will receive a two hour Saturday detention starting at 7 a.m. You also must pay a fine of $10.

In 8th grade middle school, asking someone for food or money was against the rules. In elementary school camo was against the rules (it was a clear reaction move to Columbine, though the ban was lifted a few yaers later). In my high school they make you change into a school shirt if you don't have it on, even if you're whereing a heavy sweatshirt (though it is okay to wear a heavy sweatshirt, and a school shirt under that).

I have to wear my I.D. all day around my neck like an idiot. If I don't, I get Saturday hours. I have about 65 hours... hell no I aint going.

No iPods or any other mp3 player. No cell phones during school hours... I don't see why having it out during Lunch is such a bad thing. Well, whatever... I never follow the 'stupid' rules anyway.

[QUOTE="Rheiken"]You must buy our official water bottle to drink water, and ONLY water, in class. The water bottle costs $5, and some teachers are allowed to not permit them within the classroom. Also, you must wear your ID badge. If you do not, you will receive a two hour Saturday detention starting at 7 a.m. You also must pay a fine of $10. Same_Jeans_On
What if you cant afford 10 dollars?:o

well for my school, which might be the same for his, they just put it on our school lunch account or keep record of it, and make you pay for it by the end of the year

I never really understood why you couldn't wear a hat inside school.

Agent-Zero

It's disrespectful to wear a hat inside anywhere.

That's arbitrary nonsense nowadays, isn't it? I don't feel offended if somebody wears a hat inside.

No clothes that dealt with rock and roll bands and the like. I broke that rule regularly. The best part was that some teachers actually tried to get me for it but the principal was always cool with it so they eventually stopped. :P My high schools handbook with all the rules and nonsense even outlined how parties should be handled by parents, the guidelines it gave were hilarious but I can barely remember them because I never fully read the handbook even though they gave me one all four years and told us we needed to know the rules in them.

Long hair (not even long-ish) not allowed for boys.

Teenaged

Isn't that unconstitutional?
