I never really understood why you couldn't wear a hat inside school.

SgtKevali

It's disrespectful to wear a hat inside anywhere.

That's arbitrary nonsense nowadays, isn't it? I don't feel offended if somebody wears a hat inside.

It is. I use to not care but now that I'm older I find it disrespectful especially if we are at the dinner table.

Of course not.

Ah you mean not allowing that?

Well, its not like they threatened with suspensions. The principal just pressured a guy at school to cut his hair.

Not letting us drink fizzy juice or bring food that was not bought in the school into it... Which is really stupid because loads of people bring packed lunches and nobody did anything about it but the drinks thing was annoying...Stupid rules in my opinion.Same_Jeans_On
I think that rule one this thread. You can't bring a lunch to school? Wtf is that? :\

The only one that really bugged me in High school was when I was at lunch minding my own business listening to my cd player and the yard duty would come up, not say a word and take the batteries out and walk away. Good thing I always had extra.

No hat wearing, Which is a real big deal for the hicktown high school I went to.

Girls skirts had to go down to at least the knees, I'm no expert on womens wear (except how to take them off) but doesn't it become a dress at that point?

Same rules applied for shorts. Again don't they become pants at that point?

No swearing. Completely stupid considering the teachers swear all the time.

May not leave the campus until school day ends, oh yeah, I broke this one numerous times.

No firearms on school property, Another big deal for the hicktown high school I went to.

The black shoes only rule we have in my school. Your shoes have to be ENTIRELY black (I'm not exaggerating). Even the soles. If there are even tiny spots of a different colour you have to colour it black or put black tape over it. Which sucks because I can't find many entirely black shoe's that I like.

They are so strict with how you dress. Shorts can't be to short (for girls), not suppose to have exposed underwear, no "obscene" images on clothing (alcohol and such). It all makes no sense, people from school will wear that out of school just as every other person does.

Well, being in an art-centric High School did allow many students to freely express themselves. The teachers are very lenient about dress codes and student ID's are needed when you're borrowing something (ie. books) but you do not need to wear them around.

But, you are not allowed to wear hats inside the (classroom). Then again, depending on the teacher, most don't care.

Since the visual art students paint on the walls of our school with permission, we don't need to vandalize considering each painting represents a different teen's perspective... And it's pretty :)

Or if someone did do graffiti, they are expected to be nice. At least, I expect them to be nice... I mean, really, if you're going to vandalize an art school, at least make it visually appealing.

In middle school at lunch we had to raise our hands before we could dump our trays, and we could not move from where we were sitting to another table or we would get a refferal. I swear they thought the second we move we would shoot up the place and vandalize it to hell.

You know how there stuff thats not a big deal at all in real life but is in highschool...

My favorite was the no tolerance cell phone policy which was absurd...if anybody even saw it they'd take it from you you dont even have to be on it. I dont see the big deal about using your phone every once in a while during an 8 hour day of nonsense...if you wanna send a quick text message which takes all of 5 seconds between ****s (or even during, your loss i say) or lunch or something I dont see why thats so bothersome.

sboyer2

The only thing that makes that statement funny to me is the fact that we didn't have cell phones yet when I was in High School....

[QUOTE="Nintendo_Ownes7"]

[QUOTE="funsohng"]no hats in the school premises

My school once hosted a summer school, and we had different principal and vice principal at that particular time just for the summer school, and they thought it was great idea to ban hats in the entire school premises. That means on the fields, in the courtyard, etc, and not just in classrooms. And we also happened to have one of the hottest summers in the century that year.funsohng

My school had no hats unless it was Hat Day then you can wear a hat that day.

right now, they dont give a crap if we wear a hat or not. now i think about it, we usually don't have any weird rules we have to sign out when going out of school before class ends, but no one cares anyway, we can wear hats in the classes as long as the individual teachers dont care, we don't even need I.D. when coming to school, we can play poker with poker chips (in fact sometimes teachers would come by and see us play and whatnot), we can have any of our body parts pierced, the people at senior years almost 1/3 of them bring laptop to class, half the teachers let you listen to music during work time, cellphones are allowed as long as you don't take it out and put it into silent mode, heck, they don't even suspend you for skipping entire semester. Only rule i know is that we cannot bring outsiders into our school, which is reasonable. woot Canada

I would miss HS but University is even more lenient.

Jesus H. Christ, do you people live in Soviet Russia? My school doesn't have any strict or insane rules. You can wear all the hats you want (I wore a sombrero to school one day, in fact), the girls all were uber-revealing clothes, most of my teachers let me listen to my iPod during class (and the ones who don't still don't mind if I listen to it in the few minutes before class starts). They definitely don't make us wear IDs, which sounds more like something out of a speculative sci-fi story, than something one would expect to see in the real world.

Anyway, what bothered me was being given in-school suspension for sticking pin needles into the corns of my big toe. I don't remember anything in the school agenda booklet addressing something like that.-_-

Dawq902
That doesn't seem strict at all. Yes, people might still wear that stuff, but why would you want to promote alcohol at school? To me, that would make you look like a tool, since it's illegal anyway. And wearing revealing clothing would obviously not be allowed in school.

Late to lunch = DETENTION

Late to school = DETENTION

Forget your ID = DETENTION

Stupid ****ing rules.

Ultrabeatdown55
One of the only posts I agree with in this thread. What kind of idiots would give you a detention for being late to lunch or being late for school(being late for class is different)? Unless there's a problem at your school with a lot of kids showing up late for school or skipping lunch, it simply doesn't make sense. But even then, I doubt these rules would be motivation for them to come at all.

because the school is training its students to behave properly by introducing discipline and by having you wear proper clothing. so no provocative clothing for the women = less chance of "it" happening in school premises = no tarnishing of the school's reputation. sure, people do it outside, but while you're inside the school, the administration is held responsible for your actions. also, to the people complaining, no cellphones = no cheating. are people lacking in common sense these days or what? most of the school rules you're complaining about in this thread make actual sense.

After reading this thread I am thankful that my school is so 'lax. There is pretty much only one lady that enforces the no hat/no iPod rule. For example two hours ago I was walking to class in the hallway and nobody really cared that I was listening to my iPod. Also, it's almost impossible to get detention. In all my years here I've only seen one person get detention. This is weird, because my school is actually quite difficult, but the teachers are mostly really cool.

Of course there exceptions to the rule, and as I said, no one enforced it except the principle and librarian.
