I love Fantasy. Tolkien is my favorite author considering he revolutionized the genre. His writing style is great and the sources he draws from deepens the meaning of the books. I'm currently reading "The Two Towers." I'm also in the midst of reading George R.R. Martins "A song of Ice and Fire." I've never seen a style quite as unique as his. It's definitely interesting.

Haven't read much in quite a while (six-ish months or so). Feel the need to get back into it, but whenever I try, I always just get bored. Maybe the topics I try just don't interest me anymore.

I pretty much read about anything. Right now reading Inheritance. My favorite series would be Warriors series, and favorite book that isn't part of a series is Stephen King's Under the Dome. and my favorite non-fiction books are Nephilim Stargates and Horse How the Horse has Shaped Civilization.

I'm also interested in getting the book called The Hidden Reality, which is about Parallel Universes, and I am interested in getting books about Ancient History, like Dark Ages, Renaissance, and am also interested in Greek & Roman History as wel as Mythology, and I am also interested in Russia & Israel as well as Egypt. So I will probably try and hunt books down there. I'm also interested in getting some about animals and Tropical Rainforest as well and about Ancient Civilizations.

And Inheritance Cycle would be my 2nd favorite series followed by Percy Jackson & the Olympians, also have several books on biblical end times prophecies as well.

As for recommendations I would recommend Eragon, andUnder the Dome. And I don't care much for romance type because but did find Howling Moon to be fairly decent.

Fantasy, mystery, thriller and a couple other genres...

Just finished Terry Goodkind's Pillars of Creation and reading the next book in the series, Naked Empire. Tolkien however is my favorite of that genre followed very closely by Terry Brooks. Also like Robin Hobb's works.

Other favorite authors include Agatha Christie, Dan Brown, Michael Crichton just to name a few.

I love books and feel there is nothing better than turning an actual page (versus those e-books/kindle/whatever the heck they are). I enjoy all types of books really. I'm really into Christian literature (currently reading "The Shack" by William P. Young and so far it's very interesting). I of course gravitate towards anything involving video games, LOVE Stephen King (favorite book: IT), James Patterson (Alex Cross novels), Dan Brown, Barry Eisler (John Rain books especially), Michael Crichton, John Grisham, biographies always fascinate me (I love the Walt Disney bio "Walt Disney: The Triumph of the American Imagination by Neal Gabler), and anything else that might look interesting.

Thomas Jefferson said it best:

"I cannot live without books: but fewer will suffice where amusement, and not use, is the only future object."

Thomas Jefferson to John Adams

Thomas Jefferson made this passionate statement about reading in June, 1815. Today, more than 3,000 books from Jefferson's personal library are still a part of the Library of Congress collections. The Library of Congress was established by an act of Congress in 1800 and was housed in the new Capitol until August 1814, when invading British troops set fire to the Capitol Building, burning and pillaging the contents of the small library.

Within a month of the fire, retired President Thomas Jefferson offered his personal library as a replacement. Jefferson had spent 50 years accumulating books, "putting by everything which related to America, and indeed whatever was rare and valuable in every science;" his library was considered to be one of the finest in the United States. In offering his collection to Congress, Jefferson anticipated controversy over the nature of his collection, which included books in foreign languages and volumes of philosophy, science, literature, and other topics not normally viewed as part of a legislative library.

In January 1815, Congress accepted Jefferson's offer, appropriating $23,950 for his 6,487 books, and the foundation was laid for a great national library. The Jeffersonian concept of universality, the belief that all subjects are important to the library of the American legislature, is the philosophy and rationale behind the comprehensive collecting policies of today's Library of Congress. Today's Library of Congress contains over 130,000,000 individual items in its collections.

I like well written fiction. Not too big into sci fi.

I just finished The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. Pretty cool book. It's about a dominican kid who was born kind of a cute chubby kid until he hit puberty and got extremely fat and ugly. He's a huge nerd who likes D&D and writing science fiction, and can't get a girl to save his life. It revolves around him and his family, their many struggles, switching character progressions throughout the book. It's really well written and gives you a look at a different cultural perspective. It also has a really climactic ending. Amazing ending, actually.

I'm a sporadic reader. the last thing I read was The Stranger by Albert Camus, which is a good book, about 2 months ago.

I tend to avoid non-fiction, as they can be very boring.

historic fiction/non fiction. Mostly between 1400-1920. hate scifi books though for some reason. contemporary is alright depending on author. But nothing beats historic fiction.non fiction to me.

I like books about theology. Bart Ehrman has some interesting ones, like Forged. I'm currently reading Jesus, Interrupted and I should be getting my order for Maurice Bucaille's book about the origin of man pretty soon.

I've read that, and I enjoyed it...but I can see why some don't especially if they don't persevere. Tolkien at the best of times can be wordy and the language somewhat difficult to read (maybe not like Shakespeare, although I love his works too...but still :P).

I like fantasy/adventure. My favorite is wizard's first rule, it actually has a series.shadowchronicle

Wizard's First Rule is my favorite of that series...from Soul of the Fire onwards I'll admit to struggling through them (except for Faith of the Fallen and Pillars of Creation, I rather enjoyed those)...reading Naked Empire at moment and I'm just not getting into it...but then I struggled to get into Soul of the Fire so I'll give it time.

EVERYONE'S reading The Song of Ice and Fire Books. I'm reading Game of Thrones after watching it on HBO. The books are pretty damn good. I was reading The Legend of Drizzt series, but I had to read George R.R Martin's books first.

The last book I finished was William Faulkner's As I Lay Dying a couple weeks ago. Might start John Updike's Rabbit, Run soon.

I like a lot of literary stuff but it doesn't limit me from reading stuff like Harry Potter.

I read all kinds of genres, although I am fond of Star Trek a fair bit as long as it isn't some Borg Doomsday thing. I've got a murder mystery set here in Scotland in the local city to read, I've read other books in the series and enjoyed them a lot. I don't like sports, smutty stories and the whole 'USA A OKAY!' stories, those bore me considerably. Lately I've been wanting to read a 14th century book called The Water Margin, but I haven't had a lot ot luck finding it. I like reading some of the older books like The Haunting Of Hill House and A Christmas Carol.

The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins. End all be all of books imo. I've re-read it more than a few times. All of his other books/papers are worth reading as well.

I like reading nonfiction, but I also like some fiction. The books I like to read are usually related to linguistics, philosophy, ethics, sociology, and science in general.
