I would say there are some people who just command respect, even from their enemy. I think you fall into that catagory

To further derail this thread... Your statement reminds me of the old question: Would you rather be liked or respected? I most definitely prefer the laterrawsavon

To only go for being like, you limit yourself only to those who like you... still missing the other half. To be respected you get all your bases cover, like you or not, they still have to respect what you bring to the table

Why would I care? I have gay friends. It doesn't bug me a bit.

If I could relate to someone with something other than sexuality I would.
