You guys think there is nothing after death. You must constantly be dreading dying, worrying about it and how you will never remember anything after it etc. ***** to be you I guess

I would think that would allow them to not stress so much about pleasing a higher being or going above and beyond their natural human nature just to get into an afterlife that nobody could tell you exists for sure. Man i love being a christian :P

True... I think really deep down they have some kind of faith, but just don't want to admit it because they are worried about the possibility of Hell

Not really. Maybe if you believe in God, you would feel there was a purpose for your life, a reason why you were created, and u might even feel better about being loved by a Higher Being. That's maybe, though.

but if you dont rely on faith, then that really just leaves pure logic for you to depend on...and thats not necessarily a bad thing @ the TC: how did you deduce that they are afraid to die?

Just think about the possibility of ETERNAL punishment though. Doesnt that at least scare you in the least, even if you dont believe in it? Thus you have even the litttelist amount of faith through fear.

It's your religion that gives you comfort, but you jump through hoops to appease your religion. I on the otherhand am carefree and I don't worry about dieing because I don't worry about heaven and hell. I just wish to leave my mark and peace out.

Lets use that argument too amirite

Without any mourning from losing everything their human life has given them? What if they leave behind a wife? Or a newborn baby? It could be years or a century before they are reunited. I find it hard to believe anyone here with any kind of relationship or close family could just walk away with absolute comfort.

for you all i can say is....an eternal soul cannot be bound to human memories..think of it as being dead for like 10 billion years and still preserving memories of what was your life..wouldnt it be something terrible?an eternity like that?only feeding from something that will never happen again.. i think you arent much of a thinker..(this is literal cause i dont even believe in a soul).but this is what you guys who believe in them would like to hear cause you arent prepared for death..so you invent something like a soul where you can preserve your esence and all that crap..

Why bother? I'm just fine believing what I want. At least I don't have to sacrifice my free time going to religious gatherings. I usually spend that time doing things rewarding to myself, and I won't give it up because someone told me I was going to an imaginary negative place when I die.

I'm afraid I doubt many can speak those same words, and that even fewer could have any meaning in them. They're hollow. Either way, I don't care. Right now I don't know about any of it and have pretty much dropped the hurry to learn it. It's good you have that closure, but I assure there are athiests out there who do not fear death, because some people may find that from an experience, not a promise made by one in a million religions. Some say they stop fearing death after seeing and dealing with it, if possible. That also refers to athiesm.

Everyone fears it regardless of what is promised on the other side, at least to some extent. It's because there's always that quiet little voice in your head that asks all the "what if" questions. It's maddening. Why I try not to think about it. From either side. Maybe that voice is gone from your head, but there are athiests on this very board that have said the same things.
