Life turn out the way you planned?

Mine sure as heck didn't.

In 2009 I lost my job

I lost my fiance

I lost my apartment

I lost my car.

Now I'm 25 years old and living with my parents. Oh well, life doesn't pan out the way you want sometimes, or does it? That's why I'm asking you, OT, did your life turn out the way you planned?

This is a question for the older members of OT. I don't want to see any "IDK cause im 15" responses! 8)

Well, I'm 23, and so far things are going just as expected. Of course not everything is perfect, but I really can't complain.

Not even close. The economy hit the skids at a bad time for people in their early-mid 20s trying to get their life going.

Yes, except I'm like two years behind in college then I'm supposed to be and I'm 21 and still living at home.

Not quite, but hey I still have a lot of time to procrastinate.:D

Well I'm 24 and i never expected to be where i am now, paying a mortgage and house hold bills etc. always thought id do something like jet off around the world, never staying in one place to long, something adventurous.

Well possibly... I'm still in High school and I'm very worried about what I'll do after I finish it... :|

Nope can't say anything went to plan. If things gone to plan I had I would of been working at a job at 17 then in college right now, instead I am 22 no job yet still looking for one then gonna try college eventually. and will be 23 at the end of this year. Suppose most of it being my fault for not trying hard enough and my lack of confindence in things really doesn't help.

As of yet... no. But there is still plenty of time, and I'm trying.

no but god make up for some lost opportunties for time to time.

I never had any plans or expectations so i guess everything is a bonus for me.

I've never really planned it, I just kinda roll with it as it comes along. So I guess I can't really complain that it hasn't gone as I'd expected or hoped.

Not really, but then again, I don't plan anything out. I have long term goals, but that's about it.

I never really had a plan to begin with but my life has taken some unexpected turns for sure

Eh, it's got its ups and downs. Mine isn't so bad though.

Not at all. But I'm not sure that is a bad thing, just different. I try not to think about what could have been if this and that hadn't happened and instead try to make the best of what I do have.

Well, no - broke up with a chick after 5 years, went to Australia on a whim and still here over 8 years later. Now broken up with another girl after 5 years, she kept all the stuff (and I mean everything), and now I started again, back to living in a shared house, just quit my job and, well, who knows what 2012 will bring. My plan to move back to Europe's kind of fizzed out as the place is pretty f***ed. So no.... But actually thinking about it I'm notsure if I had any plans in the first place. I just took for granted I would have sorted life out by now but hey - there's time yet and who cares - I gave up worrying about keeping up with the Jones's long ago, although those 'why me' times to make myself feel a little better I just have a peek on facebook at some kids from my year from school with 20 year old sons/daughters, never left the city and think, well, I least I aint one of them.

I'm not very old, only 19, but no, it hasn't gone quite as expected. One of the main things being that I planned on going into medicine, which isn't going to happen. I guess I also kinda hoped to be out of the house or at a different school as well. Also, I've lost touch with a lot of friends that I didn't think I would. A boyfriend would've been nice too -.-

oh god no.

i wish i had a time machine so i could quantum leap my way back to the 6th grade version of myself and make myself beat the crap out of some bullies i had issues with, so i would have gotten my confidence back and so that life would be much much better for me today. sorta like back to the future when martys dad beats up biff, and life is much better for them in the present

When I compare it to what I, at 17 or 18, thought I'd be at my current age, my life is nowhere near that. But I've accepted that and I try to enjoy living in the present as much as I can. As far as planning ahead goes, I worry about the near future, but not a distant future.

Meh. Finished school wanting to be a lawyer, half way through law school I realised I had no interest in law. Still finished my degree and now work in IT for a logistics firm.

Currently 23. It's not what I planned for but I'm happy with it tbh.

Actually mine turned out better than i thought, i got a good job doing what i want(80k) and a friends with benefits, currently my life is exactly where i want it to be.
