Linkin Park's 'A Thousand Suns'

We got two new songs for the new album coming out in two weeks.

What do you guys think?

Wretches is better than what I expected, but so far everything from Minutes and on has been bad to me.

Actually I'm digging the sound to. And Wretches and Kings blows The Catalyst out of the water. Sick ass beats in that song. Definitely giving this album a chance I think.

Chester is killing Wretches and Kings for me right now. Shinoda is good so far, but Chester is seriously screwing this song over.

They are a good entry-level band, but once you've developed a taste for music in the rock scene, you begin to loathe them.

*sigh* Why do I keep giving this band more chances? I guess I just wish they would be like they used to be when I was in high school and middle school, but it's becoming increasingly clear that they have no interest in appealing to their original fans.

Or maybe they just got lucky back then and came out with two great albums.

Can't say I like the catalyst. Wretches is just too hip hoppy. Only decent Linkin Park was Hybrid Theory and some tracks of Meteora.

God, the new track is even worse than the first one. It's a generic, flat wall of noise.

as for the 2 songs, I was disapointed, hopefully the whole album isn't bad

The Catalyst isn't amazing but it has been stuck in my head since I saw the video premiere

I listened to the first song and even that was more than what I wanted to listen to. Not my kind of music, then again, I've always disliked Linkin Park.

I think so too. I respect a band that's willing to really experiment with their sound and so far both songs have sounded significantly different than Minutes to Midnight, which I actually did enjoy. I'm going to definitely at least give the CD a chance. If it blows, it blows, but I've always loved Linkin Park so they at least deserve a listen.

I love Linkin Park an I really like these new ones.

That said Chester isn't that great in Wretches and Kings.

EDIT: The Catalyst is worse than the other one.

Both of those songs are terribly boring.

linkin park ...the band that was there when i had my first heart break with "breaking the habit", and was there when i had my college-related mental break down,now has become dust...

well, Mr Smith pretty much said it : everything that has a beginning has an end,Neo" ok the album doesn't sound like LP,they are not exactly breaking new ground,but that's something to expect from a band that has been around for so long (14 yrs i think)they gave all they could give to the world,pretty much like coldplay,now we can only expect a couple of good singles from them,say 20% off an album,like this one. there's no one to blame not even the band itself,its just the natural order of things,everything that has a beginning has an end,rise and fall

I think the Catylist is probably their best song since their first album. For so long now they've kinda just been drifting along. None of their stuff has been bad, per se. But it's just been so... boring. It's like they've been overly complacent, and they've just been phoning it in for the past few years. Their two Transformers tracks, in particular, are totally uninspired.

And then I heard their latest single, and I'm really, really digging it. Finally, this is the shake-up they've been needing. I'm not sure that I'm gonna actually buy their new album, but this is definitely the right direction for the band to take.

I like both songs I have heard off the new album. The only thing that annoys me a little about the 'wretches' song is it seems they are all trying to put on a fake Jamaican accent throughout. Still a decent song though.
