Dropkick Murphys. They are a punk band, but nobody mentions them when they bring up music or punk music on these forums. They are popular though and I believe they have a song in The Departed.

One of my favorites.  Ditto Intestine Baalism.  Scar Symmetry is a Soilwork clone.  As for my band?

Aghora - probably heard of it, proggy thing with Sean Reinert and Sean Malone
The Deserts of Traun - weird storybook metal
Staurophobia - my friend's black metal band, they're getting more local shows, increased the length of their only song to 35 minutes.

Which album?  They had two different vocalists.  Personally, my favorite track is Open Close the Book.

Everyone's heard of Nile.  Rarely listen to it, as it's got nothing going for it other than its Egyptian-ness.

not all that insane.  just fast.  There are zillions of fast drummers.  doesn't mean they're insane.  Tomas Corn is fast, and plays like he has three arms, so he's definitely higher up in my book than Nile's drummer.  Lord Marco is a drummer-for-hire that can play even programmed drum-machine tracks, much faster than Nile's drummer can.  Sean Reinert, my personal favorite, chooses to be far more inventive and complimentary to the music he's involved in than to play as fast as he can.  When you do that, the band sounds disjointed, like everyone's playing a seperate song from each other.
