What about Departed's ending didn't you like?

Star Trek was phenomenal, but then again I'm a sci-fi comic geek. Same goes for Avatar.

Never seen Darko or Unstoppable(or Taking of Pelham 123, I seen the original Taking of Pelham One Two Three though)

 • The Departed: Ugh. This film had outstanding-acting, but fell-flat on it's face at the end.
 • Donnie Darko: Not anything what I expected, at all. Bad-acting, cheesy-lines, weird-as-hell storyline. What did they see in this?
 • Star Trek: Nothing but visuals here.
 • Avatar: Very, very boring movie with ground-breaking CGI.
 • Unstoppable: This movie made "Taking of Pelham 123" seem like a great move.

I'll be sure to add more whenever they come to mind.

Well,
It was mainly from disappointment, I knew the acting was there, but all I witnessed was, graphic, mindless violence. Then they start killing off the cast, like five of them towards the very ending. Then when Matt Damon's character dies, and we pan away, it just felt incomplete and lazy. Just my 2 cents.
There Will Be Blood simply did not sit well with me, and my opinion is usually pretty similar to many critics as a whole. It's not the fact that There Will Be Blood was unexpectedly slow (which it was), but the entire message seemed little more than a character profile, that was extremely overrated.

I didn't think the Social Network deserved anywhere near all the acclaim it got. I managed to fall asleep during the Dark Knight. Oh, and I couldn't stomach Sean Penn for more than about ten minutes in Milk at the cinema.

Titanic - same "boat" as avatar without the rip off part

Also on the people saying they didnt like the departed because of the ending, i dont see whats wrong with it, it had a very satisfieing ending in my opinion
sure every1 dies but still a good ending.
Ah, the infamous "Prove You Have Bad Taste" thread! As my own taste in films is suspect at times (for example, I genuinely enjoy Rocky Horror, in a non-ironic and not "so bad it's good" way) I love these.

Slumdog Millionaire. Exploitative, cliched and bombastic. Sure, it's inspired by Bollywood movies, but that's really no excuse.

Crash. Stupid, stupid race relations nonsense with all the grace and subtlety of a crack fiend wielding a sledgehammer. 76% on Rotten Tomatoes!? WTF.

Forrest Gump. A cruel woman emotionally abuses a retarded man over the course of 30 years. Saccharine tripe, and a love song that baby boomers don't deserve.

And just to prove I'm not only picking low hanging fruit here...

2001. I can't defend this one. I love every other Kubrick film (yes, even Barry Lyndon), but I found this one dull and plodding.

2001! You too. As a scifi fan, I catch a whole lot of heat from my friends for not liking that movie. I thought it was because I was young when I saw it. But tried it again last year and apparently, we are of the same oppinion on it.

Toy Story (all of them)Woody annoyed me.

The Exorcist. It was so very boring for too much of the movie.

LOTR. Outside of the battles was really a snoozer.

War movies in general. Especially Saving Private Ryan. The beginning was good and the rest I just didn't care about.

Seven Pounds. That movie was so incredibly terrible. I felt like I wasted hours of my life when it was over. I guess they were going for dramatic; it was imo, a dramatic fail.

Inception. I guess I liked it, but people hyped it up so much that when I got around to seeing it (two days ago) I was feeling seriously let down.

Ever read the novel? It follows the novel almost tit for tat, except the ending(which I thought the movie handled better)

The Watchman was a bad movie because Zack Snyder got his grubby paws on it... I was really hoping Terry Gilliam would have gotten the chance to make that movie...

I'm surprised at how little people said Hurt Locker, it's one of the highest rated movies of all time, but it's just so f***ing awful, there's no accuracy to it at all even though the movie tries to act so realistic, shaky-cam is just stupid, it's juts so over the top it's ridiculous, and it's extremely boring and drags out...

Commenting time. The Hurt Locker: I forgot to add this one - Thanks for reminding me. This film won 'Best Picture' and didn't deserve it. Inglorious Basterds or District 9 should've won. Bad-acting, horrible-lines, over-prolonged, useless-scenes. No edge-of-your-seat intensity like critics said. I have to give credit to the first 10-minutes, though. The Social Network: One fine film. Cinematography: Beautiful. Acting: Superb. Directing: Stunning = A compelling film that captivated me until the very-end. Absolutely loved it. It exceeded my expectations.(When I saw the trailers, I expected nothing-more than a "good" movie. I got a lot more than just that). Why didn't you like it ? Inglorious Basterds: I can see why this may be on the "disappointment" list. I didn't realize how great this film was until the last 10-minutes or so. The ending left me with a grin and looking back on it. It was a fun-boring movie. I loved the acting, shocking-violence, and the story. I hope QT makes a sequel to this masterpiece. I guess the "That was a great movie" feeling never got to you. Inception: Vastly over-rated by audiences, nonetheless, a great movie. Just not "One of the greatest movies of all-time", yet. What didn't you like about this movie ? I was bored, but left breathless at times because of the great-cinematography meets awesome-action scenes. All-in-all, it was pretty-good to be one of the most confusing films I've ever seen. P.S. - Donnie Darko may be #1 on that list.

Are you serious ? Jaws was amazing, and still has the title of "The best shark movie...ever!" That's saying a lot. Saving Private Ryan was the best war-movie I have ever seen. It was just such a brutal, profound, powerful-film. I've seen Full Metal Jacket, Platoon, Letters to Iwo Jima, Flags of our Fathers, and Black Hawk Down. SPR continues to out-do all of them, IMO.

I generally pick 5 or so critics that I find myself agreeing with a lot and then follow their advice on what to see and what to skip.

Enid_Green

That's not my case. I try to 'be' like a critic and watch every film I can, haha.

I agree with that, but I'm not spending $30 on movie tickets to see something I won't like.

Wow, $30? It only costs $3.50 here in Texas. My choices would be Titanic and Pulp Fiction. I didn't watch all of Pulp Fiction, but it wasn't hooking me in. Terrible mess.
