[QUOTE="Ragnarok1051"] I'm not saying it was perfect either but the 3rd one was the worst imo. jak275

No, Alfonso Curan directed the 3rd movie extremely well, because as a movie the time turner sequence would be confusing for the general audience but he captured Rowlings imagination and made it exactly like it was in the books, David Yates would have written a different story line...hes such a dope. Anyway, the dementors were cool, there was little or no music in that movie(that's how it should be), Alan Rickman and Gary Oldman delivered their master performance in the shrieking shack scene and they didn't abuse the visual effects when you compare it to HBP.

You say the third movie stuck to the book. Did u even read it?

I've been reading HP since 98....but I know you haven't read the books at all, otherwise you wouldn't have placed HBP on the top. Tell you what list the stuff that was missing in the 3rd movie and I'll you what they did to HBP.

The second one is the closest one to the books imo.

That's because it's only 200 pages.

You should check the U.S. I don't know if that is because of smaller print or less spacing?

Yeah, there is some kind of weird rule in US that novels should have larger print. However as far as the audio version goes, I'd pick the Stephen Fry version (UK), his voice is very immersive, you can try Deathly Hallows audio book it sounds very visual.

HBP was very dissappointing, I'm surprised by all the love I'm seeing for it here. How was it in any way excusable to cut out the final battle sequence and pretty much all of Voldermort's back story!?

  1. Half Blood Prince
  2. Goblet of Fire
  3. Prisoner of Azkaban/Order of the Phoenix are tied.
  4. Chamber of Secrets/Philosopher's Stone are tied.

It's funny how the least faithful movies are my favorites.

Excuse for no fight scene: It would take away from the final battle at the end of DH. Non-readers would interpret two semi-identical fights as redundent.
Excuse for only two memories: It's not crucial to the story of this movie. It's interesting backstory, yes, but it would come across as boring to non-readers, as the scenes are long in comparison of the quick scenes of the rest of the film. People would roll their eyes every time they see the pensieve after a while.

Remember hard-core fans are not the majority: fans are, who have probably read the book a year or two ago and merely remember the basic plot.

I liked them all, but my list would look something like this:

  1. Chamber of Secrets
  2. The Half-Blood Prince
  3. The Goblet of Fire
  4. The Sorcerer's Stone
  5. Prisoner of Azkaban
  6. Order of the Pheonix

Pretty much the same here. I dunno why but I enjoy the first 2 alot. Maybe it's just because they show more of the school and it doesn't feel as rushed. (Not as in quality, but how much story they got to fit in)

Am I the only one that REALLY liked the 1st two? I think they followed the books a lot better than the later ones did.

I really liked the first two. They were fairly high on my list (3, 6, 2, 1, 4, 5).

3. Half-Blood Prince

4. Chamber of Secrets

5. Prisoner of Azkaban

6. Sorcerer's Stone

I also predict that the Deathly Hallows will probably be the best film.

Yeah the director said that with the book being split into two movies it allowed for more of the story to be put into them.

That is the order I think is both ranking them as best and my favourite. I can't wait for Part 7 though...

Best one in my opinion was Prisoner of Azcaban.

Worst so far was Half-blood Prince.

Everything in between is up in the air for me.

The films are being released a year apart, I don't see how a fairly small battle at the end of HBP would take anything away from the huge battle at the end of DH, that's a terrible excuse, what exactly was the point of fixing the vanishing cabinet if only a few death eaters came in and they didn't do anything? As for the memories, its not just interesting backstory, it is extremely important to the plot. Harry knows hardly anything about the horcruxes now and wasn't the whole point of the movie to prepare him for next year to destroy the final horcruxes? Now in movie land, he doesn't even know what they might be!

2 4 1 5 All of these are great, liked them all in their ways 3 - Cuaron sucked the soul out of it, felt heavily edited (as are the other books) only now it felt hollow 6 - Like the book, its just a stopgap, uneventful and overlong. Still enjoyed it, but wouldve hated it had i not read it.

Yeah noticed that too, the book did a good job of making people feel some sympathy for Voldermort, but also a level of respect. Still it wastes so much time on meaningless situations.

I don't get why everyone is so obsessed with making movies follow the books EXACTLY. If they follow exactly, what's the point? Personally I like when directors change it up a little...keeps things surprising.

1. Prisoner of Azkaban. Masterfully directed, especially the time-turner sequence. Only flaw would be Daniel Radcliffe's "performance" in the I'm-Going-to-Kill-Him! scene.

2. Half-Blood Prince. I loved the additional scene at the Burrow; very well shot and good intensity. I almost wish the movie would have ended at the first cut-to-black...would have been a true cliffhanger.

3. Order of the Phoenix. I dunno. Generally I just liked it.

4. Goblet of Fire. I remember there being some cheesiness or something that I didn't like. Haven't watched it in a while.

5. Chamber of Secrets. I really just don't like the first two very much anymore. But this one is more tolerable than...

6. Sorcerer's Stone. I don't really like Chris Columbus, between the first two and what he did to Rent...grr.
