It's disguised as the "Protecting Children From Internet Pornographers Act," but what it really seeks to do is keep track of your personal information and every IP address you use.

It seeks to collect your name, address, phone number, credit card numbers, bank account numbers, and temporarily-assigned IP addresses.

Rep. Zoe Lofgren of California, who led Democratic opposition to the bill said, "'It represents a data bank of every digital act by every American' that would 'let us find out where every single American visited Web sites."

"The bill is mislabeled," said Rep. John Conyers of Michigan, the senior Democrat on the panel. "This is not protecting children from Internet pornography. It's creating a database for everybody in this country for a lot of other purposes."

This was proposed nearly two years ago if I'm not mistaken. It is pretty devious for Republicans to push this under the guise of protecting children.

yeah ive heard of this and it just sounds silly besides even if it were to get passed implementing it would be quite a massive undertaking. Im pretty sure no ISP wants part of this.

The American Government: Keeping 1984 relavent since 1949. This would be a huge breach of privacy and legal law. If you cannot go out into the street and attach a global positioning system to them to track them because they may commit a crime, then there is no warrent for this bill.

Republican OR Democrat, it's always for 'public safety' or 'for the children'. Don't get me wrong, though. I think people who produce child porn and those who knowingly watch it should be tossed off a damn cliff -- for great justice.
