This is exactly why the NBA always has, and always will be a filler sport between football seasons for most...You never see garbage like this happen in the NFL...Cleveland was so furious about him embarrassing an area(NE Ohio) that watched him grow as a basketball player since he was 14 . Guess people have to put themselves in those fans shoes. No major sports championships for 46 YEARS!!!...only to be culminated by there home grown superstar throwing a nuke on the city on national TV...Thats why they are pissed...Michael Jordan faxed the Bulls that he was coming back...He didnt go on national tv for an hr an 15min butt kissing fest...All this garbage for a ringless wonder...Im glad Im an avid NFL/CFB supporter..yea they have there egos..I have no problem with him leaving. But nothing like this chump LeBron did to the fans who watched and cheered for him for 11 years.
LeBron gave them 7 outstanding years. That city should be proud it played host to a player that will be remembered for years. Look at the hype surrounding him. I do not think a player has been this hyped since Jordan. At one point Jordan had so much hype other players refuse to even acknowledge him. Hell, I think people called him the "God of Basketball" or something similar to that. LeBron's title is modest at King James.[QUOTE="clayron"][QUOTE="Sonwhy"]
The CAVS president has ****** the city of Cleveland by not giving James what he wanted.
Sonwhy
All they had to do was get two other really good players to come to Cleveland. If you can't get Bosh take Stoudamire. If you can't get Wade take Chris Paul.
oh yeah, it's that easy  you obviously have no clue how the nba and free agency works....
ill chip in my few cents...
i would have liked to see him stay in cleveland as that is where he went to high school, was drafted to, etc. however, i would rather see him be willing to take less money to try and win a championship, because after all that is what the game is about. at least he is not selling out and just going where he sees the most green (as if he needs any more after contracts + endorsements)
did they not have the best record in the league the past two seasons? Maybe Lebron is the one that didn't show upAll the tools he needed to win a championship? Is that why none of his teamates showed up in the playoffs?

do you actually keep up with the nba or are you just pulling this out of your ass? dan gilbert gave lebron everything he wanted, that's why the cavs were top 3 in the league in payroll over the last 4 years. he's not a miracle worker though. read up before you start spouting nonsense please...
exactlyI'm sorry but that's garbage. You can defend LeBron all you want, but in the end, he was an opportunistic quitter. Sure, he could have had better support but he didn't want to wait. You say that Magic, Bird, and Jordan all played with superstars? They played with good players, but what LeBron did would be the equivalent of Jordan, Magic, and Bird all joining the same team because they didn't want the challenge of playing against each other. LeBron wants a guarantee of winning a championship. If he was up for the challenge, I could have seen him go to the Bulls. He would have been the star player there and had the support necessary to win a championship. But he's a guy that just wants the hardware now and wants the easiest path to it.

But you cant. you say he did a bad job? Why did they have the best record in the NBA for 2 years and still not win. You prove that you know nothing about basketabll.
That's like saying it was only Jordan that won the Bull's championships... Anyone remotely intelligent knows that it was a team effort with Pippen, Kerr, Rodman, etc. LeBron doesn't have to worry about that. Basketball teams are built on duos or other pairings, not one person... Kobe and Pau, Kobe and Shaq, Pierce and Allen and Garnett, etc...Toriko42You forgot Jordan also had Horace Grant, and Tony Kukoc, both of which were like mini garnett's Magic had Kareem and Worthy. Bird had Mchale and Ainge. wilt chamberlain had jerry west (the guy on the NBA logo). Bill Russel had like 6 other hall of famers on his team. No one does it alone. Im pretty sure that if wilt chamberlain couldn't beat the celtics without another hall of fame player that Lebron didn't have much of a chance either. Mo williams and Delonte west were not gonna cut it.
I honeslty hope the Miami Heat fail completely next year.... It's not much, and Bosh is lucky he is even getting that much damn money. He should thank LeBron and Wade about this off season crap.
And how is it not pathetic a player has a 1 hour special on what team is going to? What do have to talk about for an hour when it comes to deciding a team?

Could the Cavs president have done more for Lebron? I think soSonwhy
What? The Cavs basically gave LeBron control over their organization the past seven years. They did literally everything that LeBron asked them to do. They give him nearly unlimited freedom.
What the Cavs should have done was exert more control over LeBron, and not cave to him on every single roster decision. He made them do countless moves that did nothing to benefit the team in the long term.
It's kind of funny, because Dan Gilbert is trying to act all tough in the letter, but he basically let LeBron walk all over the team since he first signed with them.
Good fir him, he wanted to win a championship instead of carrying the team on his back. Also I'm sure he would much rather live in Miami.
Yeah he wants to become MVP , and the way to become that is if you are drafted in a more powerhouse team. Oh yeah, that's selfish on Lebron's part.
theres a reason why everyone on a team gets a championship ring, because everyone has some part in winning that championship, weather its the smallest of rolls or the biggest of rolls
Well how come Brett Favre does it, it is not so bad but when Lebron does the same thing - its the worst possible thing imaginable :P
and this is coming from somebody who hates lebron

Too be fair though, the whole time he was there, he used the threat of free agency to hold the team hostage. They didn't develop anyone and they made trades and signings that screamed of desperation and lets try and please Lebron. Him and his cronies had a lot of freedom over there. And I heard his old coach Paul Silas on the radio say that he was told not to be so critical on Lebron and work him too much on his shooting touch in practice. Paul Silas said I'll coach like how I'm supposed. He was fired... The Cavs and Lebron were doomed to fail because a player should never have more power then the organization.

[QUOTE="Maniacc1"]I don't understand the negativity behind his decision. I mean, he's looking for a change in his career and a chance to play with new people and surroundings. Whether or not he wins a championship, we'll have to wait and see. But come on, he doesn't "owe" the city of Cleveland anything. :roll:Sonwhy
Most of the negativity comes with the way he did it. It was slimy as hell. He did a one-hour special that was basically a big "**** you" to Cleveland.
He was not trying to insult Cleveland he was just trying to give the boys/girls association some money. Hence all the proceeds generated for "The Decision" were donated to that organization.
Oh please. He could easily just cut a huge check for this organization and call it a day. There was no need for a 1hr special just to say where your going. Why dont people just leave him the **** alone? He can make his own Desicions... Fans just tend to ruin the game...00-Riddick-00yup....:| First people hate players for going to a team that pays them the most(makes him a "sell out") now he's going to a team that gives him a better chance of winning championships(now he's disloyal)? Give him a ******* break....:|
No one can put LeBron in the same sentence as Jordan, Magic, Bird, Olajuwon, Robertson, Russell, etc. Lebron took the easy way out. All those players I just mentioned had to struggle and work with the team that gave them a start to win a championships. Those players earned their rings the hard way, yet in today's world of instant gratification everyone wants to just find a shortcut to success, and that's exactly what LeBron did. It's pathetic. He will always be second-in-command to Wade on that team and that's that. LeBron's ego is just ridiculous. I've hated this guy for the last 3 years after I watched him, game after game, dancing like an idiot on the court. Every time a call doesn't go his way he complains about it. He gave up in the playoffs.
Dwayne Wade, however, now there is a disgraceful human being. Wade was one of my favorite players in the league, yet after hearing his comments since Thursday I could not be more disgusted with him. This guy has 2 kids in Chicago and is currently going through a divorce and a custody battle. He wins temporary custody of the kids, but he goes ahead and risks all that by signing with Miami. He now stands a 50/50 chance of retaining custody of those kids. Oh and here's his comment on the matter, verbatim: "In the end I have to make the best decision for my family. But I realized that Miami is my family, so I made the best decision for my family." Appaling. On and then there was the other little quib he had about him, James, and Bosh, being the best three players to play together on the same team. This guy's heard of Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabar, and James Worthy, right? Guess not.
yeah bust on the guy for giving up $36 million to win. Makes sense. Ken_Masterzbut this is Lebron James. People make it seem as if hes taking a HUGE hit financially. The guy probably already made up his "losses" by now thanks to NIKE and other endorsements.
Cleveland put back to back 60+ win teams, I'd say they had the talent to win. Mike Brown had a bad offensive scheme for most of the playoffs. He should've played Ilgauskas more than he did Shaq, but honestly the main reason that team took an early exit is because LeBron sucked.

I'm sorry he gave up money to play with Miami? Did you miss the sign and trade he forced Miami to do, which meant he will get the absolute most money he can from that contract. Oh and not to mention that there is no state income tax in Florida so he saves milions there as well. LeBron did not sacrifce anything but the love that Cleveland had for him to go play in Miami, and it sure as hell seems like LeBron couldn't have cared less about the love Cleveland gave him.

In fact from what I understand LeBron will make more money in Miami than he would have in Cleveland. He is a disingenious creep. This is why you cannot look up to famous athletes or celebrities as your ulitmate role model. They will fail you in the end. You need to take what you can learn from them and adapt it to your own personality; don't shape your personality solely in the shadow of theirs.

Kobe was doubled teamed the entire night and still managed to make it to the line 20 times. That's not sucking. That's playing your heart out. You're telling me LeBron did that in Game 5? I don't think so.

Actual statline for Kobe Bryant in Game 7: 23 points, 11 for 15 from the foul line, 15 rebounds, and a steal. His shots were off, but besides that he wasn't playing poorly.
Except that LeBron is better, so he will be as much of a leader of the team when the time comes.blackngold29
first of all, who in their right mind would not want to play on a team like that. In case people forgot, this is a team sport, and I think any logical basketball player should want to play on a great team instead of being on a good team.
Secondly, people in Cleveland freaking out is pretty idiotic. As a Jazz fan, I'm not gonna lie, I'd probably do the same thing if Stockton and Malone left half way through their careers, but that doesn't make it any less idiotic. Lebron doesn't owe anything to Cleveland and if he thought that Miami was a better option, he should have gone there instead of staying because of some stupid sense of loyalty.
The only negative for Lebron, is that hes now not the best player on the team, and it'll take some time to get used too.
As much as i dislike him, they did give him sucky players in Cleveland and he who cares what people say if you win, he just wants to win.X360PS3AMD05
LeBron James is 25 years old. Michael Jordan was 26 when he won his first ring. He struggled with his team like LeBron should've with his. They weren't that far off. This entire situation is a farce. Bosh could've pulled a sign and trade with Cleveland which would've put that team way over the top, but he didn't. These three players and Pat Riley knew what was going to happen weeks, months, or even years in advance.
[QUOTE="blackngold29"]Except that LeBron is better, so he will be as much of a leader of the team when the time comes.Fuhgeddabouditt
Wait LeBron is a leader? I'm sorry where was he in Game 5 when his team needed him to lead? Or Game 6? Or Game 3 and 4? When Miami needs a leader they will look to Wade not LeBron. That's Wade's team, and Wade's town, bottomline.
