the camera in the captivate doesnt contain a flash. He's talking about Adobe Flash. Android 2.2 allows you to view webpages in their full glory.[QUOTE="dragonmaster64"]i did some quick googling and found that the processor is the same and the camera is the same. It's all about the software features. i know im just stating facts, you stated before that it had a better camera. And for the apps being better thats pure subjective.

Both phones have 5MP cameras, but it's not all about mega pixels. ;) The Galaxy S takes far better videos in 720p.
[QUOTE="Rikusaki"][QUOTE="dragonmaster64"] how does it have better image quality? what makes it have that?dragonmaster64The quality of the optics (lens) and the image processor. can you show me online proof proving so?

[QUOTE="yentlequible"]TC, why don't you just get the Iphone 4? You seem pretty determined to prove that it is better than all other phones on the market, which is almost definitely not the case. People are giving you tons of suggestions for new phones and you just toss them out the window.dreDREb13Yeah, that's what I was thinking... :? Basically, all you want is advice on whether or not to buck up and get the iPhone 4 or stick with the older model. Anything else can suck it. Somehow, this whole situation is reminiscent of this. loool i knew the moment i created this thread it was only time until someone posted that hahaa

i checked those videos but i dont see any differences :S Well, it really doesn't matter anyway. :? It's the software the makes the Captivate superior to the iPhone 4.[QUOTE="dragonmaster64"][QUOTE="dreDREb13"]Dude, I'm just saying, why not give other phones a chance? :| Hell, I'd have recommended the Pre Plus if it weren't for the fact that you'd have shot it down the minute I mentioned it in the first place.dreDREb13loool what are you taking about, im not shooting anything down if you read a couple posts back you can see that im spending more time checking out the captivate...I know, and I was pleased, but now you seem to be questioning the validity of the phone over whether or not it has flash with the camera... i started questioning it when rikusaki was wrong when he listed how the captivate was better than the iphone. Even though only one was wrong i had to question the rest to amke sure.
In my opinion, it's the seven customizable home screens with custom widgets and live wallpapers that put the Captivate far ahead of the iPhone.
This is what you can do with the Captivate:
On the iPhone 4, you just get a dump of icons.
No widgets, no customization. Just a still wallpaper and icons.
Lame.
After some light research, I'm highly impressed by the Galaxy S.
However, one question Riku. Since you have personal experience with the device, how good is the MP3 player? One of the major appeals for the iPhone for my end is that it's one device; I don't need to carry an MP3 player and a phone at the same time.
It's excellent. The audio quality is great. And all you have to do is plug your phone into your PC/Mac via USB cable, drag and drop and you're done. No iTunes. :)After some light research, I'm highly impressed by the Galaxy S.

If you have massive iTunes library and you want to sync it to your Galaxy S, just download DoubleTwist onto your PC.

Is there an option for an 8 band EQ?
Yep.[QUOTE="PunishedOne"]

Rikusaki
This is one of the best EQ apps for Android. It's called MixZing.

Depending on the condition of your 3gs, I bet you could get anywhere from $250 - $350 for it. With it being unlocked, of course.... Oh, and being on the latest firmware seems to raise the price up a bit also.
don't listen to Rikusaki, he is very 1 sided in his arguments and clearly made up his mind, when you asked what the iphone had against the captivate all he said was that it had a camera in the front. that clearly isnt the only thing, so don't listen to the fanboy.
i owned 2 HTC phones, 3GS, and now an iphone 4
if you want to know a few things the iphone has over the captivate here are some
iphone has640 x 960 resolution, captivate has480x800
so you'll see clearer images on the iphone and text on the web and apps will be much sharper.
each display has its advantages according to reviews, like the captivate can produce better blacks but the iphone produces better whites because the captivate saturates the colors and gives it a blue hue.
the captivate has a bigger screen, but is that a good thing when the resolution is lower? all that you gain is fuzzy text and image because it makes each pixel bigger. the iphone may be smaller, but as a phone, you don't want to carry around a laptop on your ear, its suppose to be a phone, and with its ultra high resolution, everything looks incredibly sharp, you can't even see pixels unlike the captivate.
the iphone has LED flash while the captivate has no flash at all, so forget pictures in a very dark place.
the iphone has a front facing camera which the captivate does not, if you use it, then it is a pro, so its up to you
if you look at reviews comparing the cameras, the iphone4's is way ahead of the captivate even though they have the same megapixels, capturing better color and sharper images, etc, but thats expected coming from apple
both phones record 720p video, but once again because of the quality of the camera, the iphone goes ahead by a bit according to reviews.
as far as looks go, the iphone 4 looks better, the captivate is very plain and messy with the carbon fiber in the black mixing with the plastic, just compare pictures of the two and you'll see why apple usually is known for its good designs.
the operating system is up to you, if you like simplicity like your ipod then go for it, if you like tons of customization then the android is better. currently the app store favors apple greatly as far as the total amount of apps available, that includes games.
btw this is a 1 sided iphone comparison to balance with all the 1 sided captivate comments that have been going on, i could have done the same protecting the captivate.
thanks alot for this, i kinda new that they were acting one sided, thanks for your post i really needed it.don't listen to Rikusaki, he is very 1 sided in his arguments and clearly made up his mind, when you asked what the iphone had against the captivate all he said was that it had a camera in the front. that clearly isnt the only thing, so don't listen to the fanboy.

Get the Samsung Galaxy S... Anything from Apple nowadays is a rip off. Better technology exists for a better price.
Also another big thing i noticed is that i dont think its out in canada, and i need to get a phone within the week or less.Get the Samsung Galaxy S... Anything from Apple nowadays is a rip off. Better technology exists for a better price.

Well it's your pick, but if you ask me(and I was into phones for about a year, I know what I'm saying), then the iPhone is just a complete rip-off.
Here's a little non-biased 'war' between the two giants
Anyone in their right mind will come to realize that the iPhone 4 is a rip-off, and anything from Apple altogether.
But overall, the IP4 and Galazy S are the two top-of-the-line phones right now, but Android is far better than IOS4, and the screen is so much more amazing with the new Super Amoled technology(I played around with the Galaxy for a while, was amazed).
Also, if you want, look into the Samsung Wave
It's also up there at the top with 720p recording and a Super Amoled Screen, although it is .7 inches smaller than the Galaxy.
If I were you, I would buy a Galaxy S and use the money you saved on the extra memory you can add(did I mention iPhones are limited).
Again, It's your pick, buy what you want, just bear in mind what I have said.
I have an iPhone 4 and it works (performance + reception) better than my old iPhone 3GS.
also, I have a friend with both iPhone 3GS & Android Nexus-One. And he prefers his iPhone 3GS far more.
when i asked him about android performance, he said, it's stutter, not as smooth as iPhone iOS, and doesn't have the attention to details the iPhone iOS has. Very unstable & the software isn't mature enough.

'and doesn't have the attention to details the iPhone iOS has.'
You mean the menus that look exactly the same? Android is FAR superior in customizability, and when updated to the latest version, it just beats IOS4 in every way. And... the vast majority of the Android market has free apps, rather than the control freaks Apple, who make customers pay 75% more than they should.
Just look at how much money you spend on Apple products, major, major rip offs.
I personally had my good share of experience with both Android and IOS, and have to say... Android is just better.
Very unstable? Software not mature enough? Now that's very funny... I lol'd :|
I looked into the samsung captivate into more depth and i am becoming more impressed but i have a question, the phone comes with a GPS a impressive GPS that is voice automated and responds by turn by turn, it can be seen in this video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0BMBiYEKVE&feature=related around 5:15. Im wondering what you have to pay to use this app? I know it requires the usage of internet but is that it? So if i get the phone on lets say a three year plan would i be able to use it? Please be specific.
