[QUOTE="DarkPrinceXC"]I'm talking smack about Californian hockey teams because only 1 has ever won a Stanley Cup. Plus I just hate the Chargers. :) DarkPrinceXC

the Chargers are in the playoffs. where are the Bears? I can't find them anywhere

I said I hate the Chargers, I didn't say they weren't in the playoffs. BTW check their records for this season. They barely finished with a .500. I guess it's the Bears fault that they have a somewhat tough division (Besides the Lions! :P ).

Hey man... I'm sure its hard to keep an 0-16 record.

Haha yeah, they really have to throw away any sort of pride they have to do it. 0-16, that's just sad. :)

[QUOTE="mrbojangles25"][QUOTE="Sajedene"] I love how people equate Los Angeles to the rest of California. San Francisco, Sacramento, Bakersfield, San Diego, Orange, all completely different places. But if were talking about how California is everything ... being that it is the richest state (more rich than most countries in the world) and has practically everything (except water -- that is until we properly convert the ocean water to drinkable water) -- yeah I have legitimate bragging rights about my state and the city I live in. helium_flash

California, on the whole, is just awesome. Oh ya, and the rest of the world doesnt really consider us the US. I got to Europe, people are like "Are you American?" all surly and Im like "No, I am Californian" and theyre like "Oh, ok" all cheerful like lol.

Wow. And these people are trying to say that Californians aren't elitists.

Haha, so true. I too am from California, and what can I say, and I don't know, guess you just pick up on "stateism". After three horrible years of living in rainy Washington, you come to appreciate California even more. What's not to like? Warm, large, variety of cites, beaches, mountains with snow, lakes, attractions, whatever you want. Whoops, I was being a Californian elitest. :P

Anyway, as far as L.A. goes, I just don't like the place. It's far too big, ugly, gray, and has traffic all the time. Something just doesn't do it for me. Some of the suburban areas are a little nicer, but a lot of L.A. doesn't appeal to me.

You dont have to be self-centered or media-obsessed to love your own state and think its the best.

The richest state?!? You do know that your governor came out and said your state needs a bailout to continue governmental operations, right???

That's whats awesome about the state too -- if you don't like one area because it doesn't offer what you are looking for, the most you need to do is take at most a 2 hour flight (or an 9 hour drive) to find what it is you are looking for.

Ahh no. Actually I got back to California last Sunday. I was sad. :( The only thing I actually enjoy about being here is the hockey league I play in every Tuesday. I guess all my hatred for California is mostly based on my experiences in "So-Cal". I've never been further north than Rancho Cucamonga (sp?), and I hear it's way nicer up there.

Ah dont worry. 6 months will fly by fast. It will be here sooner than you know it. And yeah, northern and southern California are totally different from each other. Like everything LA is San Francisco isn't (for example) -- wine country is great too. I'm so tempted to like make a tour for you of great places to go here in "so-cal" to maybe help swing your view on it. Maybe I will ask my friend from Chicago (he loves it there) what it is about here he likes and see if I can work around that.

That'd be great! I plan on driving through Montana on my way back to Illinois to visit a good friend of mine, so I'd have to go north anyway. I don't really plan on coming back here, so it'd be cool to see some of the nice places that I've never been to. Santa Paula Creek is really nice, me and my roommate camped there a couple months ago. It's about a 30 minute drive from Six Flags.

LA isn't the only city with homeless people;)

Pollution is much worse in other countries. China for example

the rolex under the trenchcoat, um yeah that's never happened to me and i've been in LA for 20 years ;)

spoiled rich people? the majority who live in LA aren't rich buddy. I think you're thinking about Conneticut ;)

you cant compare China to LA though

There are really cheap flights to LA from the UK so I was thinking about going as a kind of gateway to Mexico. I guess it's just not the kind of place it's worth spending much time there as a tourist.

Los Angeles is very safe for a city of its size, that and crime has been slowly dropping there over the years.

It might just because of it's size, but it just has certain bad parts like every city. As far as I know it's never been high on the cities with high murder rates like Detroit or St. Louis.

True, but it still sucks. Worst city I've been in, in terms of traffic volume. And I've been to cites larger than NYC

larger in what way? I dont think geographic size matters really. NYC is the most populous city in the states.

No just no, you can argue that Chicago is better then LA, but there is no competition between New York and Chicago.

[QUOTE="DarkPrinceXC"][QUOTE="trickmyster13"][QUOTE="DarkPrinceXC"] Well Chicago is better than NYC as well! ;) And have you guys even been to Hollywood? That place is so depressing.

No just no, you can argue that Chicago is better then LA, but there is no competition between New York and Chicago.

Traffic sucks and there's way too many people in NYC. Plus I hate their accents.

take the subway. the amount of people is the attraction for me.

Everything. I don't live in Philly (in fact, I live in North Dakota), but I go there all the time because my dad's family lives over in the South Jersey/Philly area because that's where he grew up.

I like everything about it. All of the different sections of Philly have something different to offer. I love the history of the place as well. Also, you can't beat a nice walk down South Street. I could spend days looking around there. Basically, I just find the whole city to be incredibly interesting.

I'd rather hear that than the mumbling New Yorkers: "AAAAAa, wuddya dooooooin uh? uh?"

True, and the people are rude as well. INB4 OMG GENERALIZATION. Anyways, I know a few guys from NYC who are out here in Cali with me, and all of them have that annoying accent and are extremely ignorant. Those are really the only people I know from NYC, so I just callz em as I seez em.

I'm not a fan. It's literally nothing, but a dessert with nothing to do. BTW Disney Land is in Anaheim not L.A.
