Sure the wordshave different meanings, but the obsession that comes with true love/hate seems similiar.
Can they be the same?

No. What "obsession" are you talking about? I honestly don't believe you have felt "true" love/hate before, or anything even close.

You love someone, so you go out of your way to let that person know how much you love them
You hate someone, so you go out ofyour way to let that person know how much you hate them
the feelings can have such a grasp on you, it's sometimes overwhelming.
hows that one saying go? "You hate someone so much you almost love them" ... or something like that ....

ugh,....
I'm talking about people. Why isitso hard to fathom that concept?
Because I think that grabbing a couple of arbitrary associations for concepts and giving those as proof that the two are somehow profoundly related is a pretty tenuous leap to make. But not everyone feels hate towards other human beings... :?
Sometimes I do hate the feeling of being in love though - like if it's something that would never work out and so you're left to 'brew' in your own well of emotions.
I'm not sure I've ever hated someone before. Like and dislike, I know those. But hate? I haven't the faintest clue. I say I hate a certain person, or people, but it's more just an extreme dislike.

If I love someone then I will go out of my way to do what I can for them. However, When I hate someone they are not worth my time. I do not put any energy what so ever into them. The term your looking for is obsession. At no point does true love/hate control me.

In any eventto love or hate, is to put an immense amount of thought and energy into something. Is what I mean.
This is the most pretentious, pitiful, empty attempt at being philisophical I've seen for a while. Look, what your trying to suggest isn't even borderline interesting or intelligent, it's just obnoxious bull****.

You can make any two concepts sound the same with enough simplification and the correct terms but the bottom line is that "love" and "hate" are binary ****ing opposites./end of discussion.
you obsess over things you love
you do your best to forget about things you hate.
theyre about as far apart as something can get imo

So can paranoia, anxiety, fear, curiosity, hunger, lust, envy and the list goes on. Just because two things can lead to obsession doesn't make them the same. I know you're probably trying to sound all philosophical and wise but you're coming off as a person who cannot distinguish between Yin and Yang, that's the stuff serial killers are made of.Ok, I think some of us are being a little harsh on TC here. I think what he's doing here is trying to make sense of a love/hate relationship. Many of us including myself have never experienced such a thing, but thier is an example that I'm sure we can all relate to... STAR WARS. What Luke Skywalker felt towards Darth Vader [spoilers] his father [end spoilers] was probably a mix of love/hate. So in a way the two actually aren't polar opposites in that they can in rare circumstances be experienced together.alphamale1989
Luke didn't hate his father....
It's impossible to love and hate at the exact same time. I have no idea how anybody could possibly make that claim using any kind of rationality.
Thank you Astrapsody, I tried to respond to his post but got frustrated half-way through. You truly are a Magician Lord.Luke didn't hate his father....

Let them be like that. I'm sure they understand what I mean, they just being silly to be silly. And if they really cant grasp what i'm saying, well what can I say for them? Anyways, it makes slow nights like these a lil more active

This, but with less adjectives, and definitely not "the most".
However the TC did cling in a cheap mexican soap opera cliche. There is a thin line that separates love and hate but a world of difference.
Also, true love is not about obsession
Oh and lastly...Sure the essence that fuels our feelings are all the same, in a deep technical matter, but everything is the same in a deep technical matter

Actually I would argue that the entire final duel hinges on this intense love/hate conflict that Luke has towards his father. http://tinyurl.com/yacr596 3:44 especially looks like hate. But ultimatly he shows love and compasion for his father during his final moments. I agree that love and hate are opposite things, but for some people insome cases they can be experienced together.[QUOTE="_R34LiTY_"][QUOTE="Mu5uk0"] You can make any two concepts sound the same with enough simplification and the correct terms but the bottom line is that "love" and "hate" are binary ****ing opposites.

More so that I'm just examining my relationship with my baby's mama and have been trying to make sense ofhow we feel towards each other right now that leads me to conclude that.
some scientist seem to conclude the same with their own scientific explanation of the two emotions.

How do you think you come off as trying to assume you know why I'm posting a simple subject?
They can be damn close.btaylor2404I'm going to go with this. When you love someone, you constantly think about them, talk about them, care about them, etc. When you hate someone, you constantly think about them, talk about them, care about how good or bad they do, etc.

Love and hate are polar opposites.

Actually, Love and Fear are polar opposites. Most hate is a subset of some type of fear.
Love and hate around nothing alike unless you mess around with loves cousin then you will probably get a visit from hate.....CoolSkAGuy
I've seen you post quite a lot and only now have I realised your screen name is not "CookieGuy" and your avatar is not a cartoon cookie.

The only similarity is that they are both strong emotions...other than that...there's no way they can be the same...
It's not letting me quote you, alphamale, but here's my response to your last post.
Does he ever experience both emotions at the exact same time? No. I would actually make the argument that if Luke had truly hated his father, he would have finished him off. He more or less hated the Sith for what they did to his father. However, all this doesn't matter, since my first point stands regardless.
