M. Night Shyamalan: The Last Airbender

Saw the trailer at Transformers... now it up online... did you guys watch it... what do you think, will it live up to the hype?

We can only hope they do the show justice(which was a masterpiece IMO). Based on the teaser trailer I saw--it looked like it's coming along decent enough.

I'm one of the people that think this movie is gonna be full of fail because of its cast. I mean an almost all white cast for a movie like this? I dont mean to be a rascist but *sigh*

I'm only seeing it if there is intense violence and nudity.

Well if the first of the movies is terrible they do have two more tries to get it right, but three isn't a big number :lol:

I was actually impressed but I'm a little scared for the trilogy sense M. Night is directing it. I mean his last two films weren't really that good but it still has potential.

Well you know Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino going to along side M Night with the movie.

It's most likely going to be crappy for a few reasons: A.) M. Night is directing it...that's all that needs to be said about that. B.) It looks similar to a rip-off of the already crappy Dragonball movie that just came out, so the standard bar is already low. C.) M. Night is still directing it...D.) We all know the "twist" that he always puts at the end is almost always crappy, except for Sixth Sense, which was his only decent movie, so he most likely thinks Airbender will also need his "signature" spin on it...which he should avoid doing. There's probably more reasons why it's going to be crappy, but I'm having a hard time getting past M. Night directing this film.../sigh

I'm not a fan of Shamalamalamalamalamalamalam, but the trailer looked pretty cool.

It seems like a good movie but there's already a controversy.

Apparently some group thinks this might be racist, as this features an all American cast and the characters of the show are from varied Asian nations.

Also, the one person who IS from an Asian nation is the bad guy.

Hmm I'll pass I didn't really care for the animated series it tried to hard to seem like an eastern style cartoon (anime). I'm also not a big fan of M.Night besides the Sixth Sense.

Never seen it but I hope it 5/5 and makes a billion dollars. I feel like if this movie based on cartoon ninjas with fantasy powers can be good, there's a good chance that a certain orange outfit wearing cartoon ninja with fantasy powers can get a kick ass movie too.Senor_Kami

Why couldnt they give this movie to Micheal Bay? It wouldve been much better and flashier.

Ugh, I HATE that Shyamalan is doing this movie. He is so amazingly pompous yet such a terrible director. I ended up going to see Lady in the Water because some friends really wanted to go and it is the only movie that I have been seriously angry about wasting 2 hours of my life to see...I wish I could have received compensatory damages for that.

If it's done right it could be pretty good. Avatar is one of few shows on Nickeoldeon in recent years that I've actually kind of enjoyed.

I just hope that M. Night Shyamalan doesn't screw up this movie.

You know no one's actually given any valid reasons as to why it's "going" to be bad, or why the trailer wasn't good enough.

"M Night Shyamalan" is not a valid reason. It's just a name.

Consider the fact that he's working with AN EXISTING world, and therefore also working closely with the creators/writers of the cartoon...

You all just sound like elistists jumping on the M. Night Shyamalan hate bandwagon.

Truth be told this is trolling/flame bait because you haven't given reasons. Mods should be all over this.

Personaly, I loved the trailer. I would have liked to see some bending, but that's not really a huge deal for a trailer. The martial arts looks authentic and the way the trailer slowly panned out revealing the fire nation army was awesome. Also, the person playing Ang DID look like Ang.

IMO although the show was somewhat entertaining, I dont have high hopes for the movie because I dont have much faith in the director, even if he is working with an existing world. None of us really know if it is going to be bad or not, & I dont see how citing the director isnt a valid reason for thinking it will be bad. If you dont like a director, then you probably arent going to have high expectations for the movie.

It's a live action movie based on a cartoon. Can't say I think it's good :?Kenny789

The cartoon was pretty awesome, but it was from Nick, so a lot of stuff had to be held back to keep it appropriate for kids. Hopefully, we can see some blood or someone dying (people did die in the cartoon but not visibly).

Since the main character is a pacifist who was unwilling to kill a guy who was basically Hitler and said that insects were a precious form of life, and everyone else in the show goes along with it, I'd say there won't be much violence.
