[QUOTE="spazzx625"][QUOTE="rawsavon"] No doubt all the steroid talk will come up (seeing as it was a heart attack)LostProphetFLCL

Inevitable. Still, it's not totally unheard of that a 58 year old has a heart attack.

Considering I have heard of people in their 20's dropping dead of heart failure even when in incredible shape, I wouldn't necessarily say steroids is a must here.

He could have just had a bad hand genetics wise, or he also could have abused other drugs in his past besides steroids.

I'm pretty certain he did steroids at least a time or two during his career. Just about all of those guys from his day did (hell most still do). I believe he's done ample amounts of cocaine as well (and again, quite a lot of them did/do). Those guys tend to have really heart unfriendly diets, lots of meat and eggs and such (lot of of protein, also a lot of cholesterol). Combine all that with the physical stress wrestling puts on the body and it's really not surprising to hear of these guys dropping off in their 40s or 50s.

Macho was always one of my favorites growing up, though I liked him better when he played the heel.

That plus all the years taking bumps in wrestling takes a huge toll on your body.

When your in the wwe early death is a huge thing among the wrestlers. Sad but very true, steroids and beating up your body the way they do is very lingering. Mic foley a former wrestler can't even go on his knees to play with his kids any more. I wish they'd try to make it a bit safer, since these guys do shorten there life span from wrestling.

There's not really much they can do to make it safer without altering the very nature of what it is they do.

Anyone who knows anything about wrestling knows that steroids are a plague on the industry.

My point is that anyone that knows anything about roids (especially 80's and 90's era 'horse' roids) knows that they will have played a part in his death...no matter what. They could either be a primary cause or a secondary one

Just heard about this and I'm genuinely saddened. I grew up with the Macho Man on TV in the 80's and 90's and I've always been a big wrestling fan.

Old man? Spidey 1 was a decade ago or so. He wasn't even 50 than. Late 48, 49 or so. Now go look at some recent pictures of Stallone, who is ripped and in his 60's.

I'm sure Randy used roids back in the WWF days but probably not recently. And there are far older wrestler who took roids back then and are still alive today (Flair, Hogan)

there is a 0% chance that they were the primary cause, just saying :P. but yea if he died by a heart attack the likelihood of that happening was greatly increased by roids. sadly the bigger you are, work out or no, the shorter your expected life span and he was a big dude.

Pixel-Pirate

Some other wrestlers using roids and not being dead = it could not have contributed to his death?????????
I don't follow that logic at all.

I will guarantee you that it did contribute to his death (one has to look no further than all the wrestlers that have died so young...it is also happening in other sports where roids have been prevalent)

Just b/c person 'a' uses a drug and outlives person 'b' that also did that drug does not mean that the drug did not contribute to person b's death

FYI...he was like 50 (ora year away)when that movie was made. That look he has going on there is not natural for a 50 year old

WWE confirmed it...Which is what I was waiting for. We were never going to see him again in a ring, but I was holding out hope he would show up for the HOF because he was on business terms with Vince again. Sucks now I will never see him again....Back to old wrestling tapes and my long gone memories.

[QUOTE="spazzx625"]TMZ seems to be the leading source for most of the articles out there so I wouldn't call it 100% since I'm not crazy about citing them either.Kcube

Its true..My bro in FLorida just MSN'd me saying it was just on the news there.

Yea I live in Fl and its been all over the news today. It is crazy that many of the major wrestlers live in the Tampa Bay area, just miles from my home. Not sure why though. I mean Tampa is cool and all but I dont see the attraction.

Why feel bad? Hell he didn't mind it when other wrestlers did it, he actually gave Jay Lethal (who was in TNA, and went under the name Black Machismo) credit for doing it. There was also a comedian that did it one time, and he thought it was hilarious.

It's with a heavy heart I post in this thread. I was lucky enough to have shaked Randy's hand almost 26 years ago. He had his ups and downs but what a great performer.

Rest in peace Randall Poffo the wrestling world and your fans will miss you.

Whether you wanna call him a performer or athlete, he was one hell of a performer, and he had a big heart, for the business and his fans. Rest easy, Macho Man. If there's a heaven, I hope he macho's it up.
