[QUOTE="famicommander"][QUOTE="bman784"]If there was an incredibly blunt, forceful politician who wasn't a libertarian, I'd probably be on board. Unfortunately, the United States doesn't have any very coherent or reasonable far left parties, so at the moment I'm stuck with the democratic party. Obama was looking great until he won the nomination and started his move to the center, thus proving that he is indeed a typical politician.bman784
I hope you didn't just imply that the Libertarians were far left...

No, I didn't. I described Paul's admirable qualities, and how I'd like to see a politician on the left reflect them more.

Ah, I see. I misread. I thought you said you were seeking a forceful politician who WAS a Libertarian, and you had me quite confused for a second.

Flip-Flop. Another bad thing provided by the Bush administration. Grown adults can change their minds, yes that one of McCain is a bit wild, but Obama will have several of them too. I want a president who realizes we don't live in a world that stands still and adjusts accordingly. I'm for Obama, but I think McCain would do the same.

[QUOTE="CreamBeav"]Obama appearing as a Christian to the public eye doesn't make anything better. Most likely he is an Atheist and just masquerading as a Christian for the sake of his campaign. Either way, Dog bless him. He's on the right track.ViolentPressure

Don't be so surprised, even the Catholic church is full of atheists masquerading. That's just the way the world is, it's very hostile to atheists, you have to pretend.

The few times I get asked what my religion is on real documents, I usually just say... umm I'm not very religion, but I believe in god.... that keeps them happy : /

This is very true. The most intelligent people in the world are atheists, but often they are forced to just "play the game" to get ahead in their career and further their sensible cause.

[QUOTE="bman784"]Flip-flopping is to be expected in politics, which is why politics sucks so much. It always leads to irrational backlash from both sides, with double standards abound. Pretty much the best thing you can do is look at the policies they generally haven't flopped over, and go from there. To that end, I still support Obama, albeit with not as much enthusiasm. DivergeUnify

I saw an interview with Ron Paul and he seems to be the only person who deosn't flip flop? "Do you endorse McCain?"

"No, not unless he changes his views"

He's a real example of a Maverick, McCain just wants to appease liberals

Ron Paul is one of the only people in congress who refuses to recognize genocides all over the world, even on bipartisan bills to recognize things like the Armenian genocide or genocide in the former Yugoslavia, you will find Ron Paul to be the only person saying no, America should not recognize these events as genocide.

Goes to show you alot about his personality.

Yeah, the cruel doctor

btw, do you have a link?

You can look it up on his voting records on the Internet, I just remember looking up the bills to recognize the Armenian genocide and the Srebrenica genocide in Congress and he was the only person to dissent in the latter. It would be hell to find out what the bill was called though, I can just say, I really have no reason to lie : /

My parents had to say they were Christian to get into the US, they were actually denied from their first choice, Australia, for being honest.

Australia though that highly educated possible "communists" would destabilize the country. They would rather have Middle Eastern and other people from Asian countries than intelligent and skilled atheist Europeans. Your loss Australia! :P

I disagree. I think there are many intelligent people who realize that faith and science do not necessarily have to contradict one another. Many intelligent people are agnostic.

Literature?

Architecture?

History?

Engineering?

Agnosticism is a neutral view, and that just further exemplifies their willingness to acknowledge the truth, and this is very admirable indeed. In all honesty, I am an agnostic, but for all intents and purposes you can consider me an Atheist.

The probably just say they are agnostic to get by in this world. I know I do.

Honestly though, you really won't find many scientists who believe in religion. Yea, there is SOME, but they are a small minority of the scientific community.

Keith Olbermann does a quick rundown of some of McCain's most blatant flip-flops.

Olbermann: In 2006 he (McCain) said on Hardball, 'I think that gay marriage should be allowed,' Then after the commercial break, he added, 'I do not believe that gay marriages should be legal.' "

Plenty more in the video.

Your point?

Oh yeah, you're not supposed to make a thread about a politician without also giving equal time to their rival in that same thread. It's like some unwritten rule that nobody told me about apparently.

Anyone ever see the family guy episode where Lois was running for Mayor and she realized that she just needed to stop making sense to win? All that she needed to say was NINE ELEVEN! and that Terrorism is bad to win.

That's how American politics work, just stop making sense and keep it simple. If I ran for office, this would be what I run on.

IRAQ WAR STOP

ECONOMY GOOD

TERRORISTS BAD

All my speeches would be those 7 words repeatedly, billboards would be all over the country with those 7 words and guess what? I would probably get 70% of the vote.

Keith Olbermann? Wow

He's honestly one of the most pathetic human beings I have ever seen. You see his show always loses in the ratings to Bill O'Reilly, so Keith Olbermann calls Bill O'Reilly "the worst person in the world" almost every day on his show.

Obama has flip-flopped just as much. The thing is he has absolutey no record because he has no experience. He missed more votes than any other senator, so people don't really know what he stands for.

And I really couldn't care less if McCain flip-flops. I would do anything to keep this inexperienced, racist man, Barack Obama, out of office in 2008.

jbz7890

Well said. Also Olbermann is to O'Reilly as Radio Talk show host were to Howard Stern. Always attacking th top guy.

Keith Olbermann is one of the most intelligent news anchors we have.

One of them just died.

We shouldn't be hating on people just because you don't agree with them.

Well those are the 2 most important things for me when deciding who to vote for, thanks for making my decision this election so much easier!

The two most important things should be experience and political ideology. Too bad Barack Hussein Obama has neither.

What's up with mentioning Obama's middle name?

Why are you defensive about his middle name? Does it seem controversial to you? Does it remind you of a mass murderer? Does it sound Muslim to you?
