I was just wondering this today. I barely have anything to talk about. People talk about what they've done with friends and it gives them more experiences and more stuff to talk about. I'm just starting to make friends and socialize better, so that gives me less to talk about.

I thought maybe I could make up for this by joking around alot? Not too much to the point where I'm annoying, but just so people could see me as more interesting. I could then maybe get invited to hang out, but I'll still talk about stuff. I thought about this because I know a guy who wasn't much of a talker, but he joked around, goofing off, maybe to be more interesting and be more noticed. Imean, I sure noticed, so maybe it could work with me?

What do you guys think?

Joking around never helps anything. Watch C-SPAN 2 for three hours. BAM! Instant conversation starter.

No. I'm going to continue being that way afterwards, so it won't be fake. And if a sense of humor is fake, won't it be easily noticed?

Your greatest flaw is that you surround yourself with idiots. That said, DO NOT be annoying. It would be better for you to not talk.

Well it depends if you can actually say something funny and your grades don't suffer for it (latter being if this is school related)

I've never been particularly talktative, but I have a natural sarcastic and dry sense of humour, so I find it easy to come out with witty remarks or comment on things in ways that make people laugh. If you don't have a natural sense of humour then it'll come off as forced and you'll look like a jerk.

Why not try and just be generally nice. Or even better, go out with these people and then you'll have something to talk about together.

As long as you're not overdoing it. Then again, sometimes you can't help yourself.

Even if you continue to be that way, it's still fake if it's not who you are.

just make sure the humor counts

it'd be better to be thought of as the quiet funny guy than the guy who thinks he is funny

also beware of sarcasm, its shocking how many folks out there lack sarcasm detectors. I get myself into a lot of trouble at work (well, not real trouble, just misunderstandings) because the manager is oblivious

I keep the windows down and blast NPR whenever I drive. A gaggle of hipsters follow me everywhere.

Eventually he could like that part and become that therefore joking being a part of himself Also TC I say that is a good plan, after you get invited to hang out and stuff you'll have cool experiences and friends and stories to talk about then you'll be somewhat popular and a joker, you techincally kill twoo birds in one shot. I bet that afterwards you'll aim for the girlfriend

It was at first. Every now and then you'll see a fixie on a Prius. They give me all the PBR I can drink though.

I do that sometimes, whatever you do do not get annoying and DO NOT get incredibly weird, I get incredibly weird and when I do everything gets all awkward.

That's pretty much what I do. I'm not very talkative with most people so I just throw out jokes if I don't have anything else significant to add.
