[QUOTE="PannicAtack"][QUOTE="Capitan_Kid"] So now criminals are worth more than my own property? If I have a gun, and there is a man stealing shit from my house, then he will get shot. Simple as that. What am I supposed to do? Let him take it? Call the police as I watch him run away with my stuff? Capitan_Kid
That isn't what happened in this case. Please get a goddamn clue.

I know brah. It was an example. The crimiinal scum shouldn't have tried to steal his stereo. The victim was merely dishing out much deserved Justice.

Seems like the heads here think stealing is no big deal. No wonder this man felt it was okay to go break into another persons car at their home. I kind of expect this from the people here. They flipped out be cause I exercised my right to collect "evil" guns. I feel justice was done here. Obviously the police would never have gotten there in time and this scum would have just escaped and stolen from another person. Now this scum is dead and the world is a better place with one less thief in it.

He was caught in the act do we really need to waste time and money just to confirm that. Then spend even more money for housing/food/medical/security/cable tv,parole ect. Justice was served a drain on the human race is gone. He will never steal anything ever again case closed.

The real question is what would the people here do??

Seems there is a oh well he ran away to steal another day vibe going on here. Seems like they guys here would not defend their property and just call the police and hope the scum gets caught. Pretty sure by the time you stop to make that call the thief would be gone and your car would be damaged. The answer your most likely looking for is cower in fear and pray for help. Guess I am the bad guy cause I would have shot his ass and called 911.

Guess that makes me evil for having the balls to defend my property in your eyes.

no-scope-AK47
Might not make you evil, but it certainly makes you a f***ing idiot. Before the charges were dismissed this guy was facing a murder charge. People actually do end up in prison over similar instances of "defending their property". And even if you luck out like this guy and the case is dismissed, you still have the legal fees and the time spent in court and the sleepless nights worrying about what it'll be like when you get sentenced to prison. If your f***ing car radio is worth so much to you that you're willing to go through that, then you're dumb as $*** and your sense of priorities is massively f***ed up. And that's not even taking into account that the thief in this story actually DID have a knife on him. And for all the other person knew, he could have been carrying a gun. Trying to kill the thief drastically increases the chances of the thief using deadly force in order to defend himself. This could have absolutely gone the other way, with the thief being the one who killed the pursuer. He actually risked his own damn life going after the thief. And if you think it's worth risking your own life over a f***ing car radio, then again...you're an idiot.

You are deluded by some kind of vigilante hero fantasy, you fail to see the scenario in a objective perspective.
Some people are easily triggered in a explosive rage. The theft of a radio is a plausible trigger, which in this case was the reason for the death of the thief. There is a definite chance that this man is dangerous and suffers from explosive aggression's. His freedom may be a potential danger to everyone else.

Good to know your property is more valuable than human life.

These humans lost that right to life when they decided to become thieves.

Rights are unconditional. Otherwise, they're not rights.

There was no need for the deadly force, there was no threat afterwards. Not exactly self defense.

Whether it's a good decision or not the question is did the judge interpret the law correctly? That really is how they have to find. And I'm not an expert on Florida law so I can't say yay or nay....

since when is chasing down a fleeing person and killing them "self defense"? i agree with the intent of the law they are using to justify this... you should have the right to defend yourself if someone is trying to hurt you. but killing someone, who is running away, because of a robbery is in no way self defense.

You know.. Maybe it was harsh.. and not right.. but.. these kind of decisions would definetly make robbers start thinking twice.. I might be for this.. might not be.. I think we should have the right to beat the shit out of them.. but not kill them.. that sounds good.

I don't have to chase anybody and never said I would. I said I would have shot his ass and called 911. That is legal where I live. In case you think my name is from COD here is a pic. Also I am martial artist and I am 6'5ft and 240 lbs with under 10 percent body fat.

Oh, I didn't realize you were so badass. Never mind then, that changes everything. EDIT: Also, thanks for living up to stereotypes.

I wouldn't say that it's self defense.  I'd say that the thief got what he had coming to him.  The best way to stop crime is to allow people to defend themselves and their property with extreme prejudice.

Crime should be handled by a governing body, the individual should not be trusted in matters of: property protection, justice or crime prevention.

That.....or the person wasn't doing what they thought. Individuals should not take the law into their own hands. Let law enforcement sort it out.

Is this a joke? This would only work if the government gave everyone a bodyguard

That has got to be one of the least enlightened, scariest thoughts I've ever heard.  Are you from the Soviet Union?  North Korea?

I can protect myself 24/7, wherever I go. Cops cant. Im not dissing cops and saying they arent needed, but also I defend myself with my own money and not the states, its kinda win win. Im not saying 100% either way, but America could use more encouraged personal protection. Can scale back police a bit and save money. Not like cops stop anything anyway there is thousands of crimes committed everyday

I disagree.  I think that crime discouragement and immediate reprisal should be left to the individual.  THEN the police and courts step in.  If the person who retaliated/defended themselves against an already proven threat is shown to have gotten the wrong man or taken action against a true non-threat, they are held accountable by the law.

And how often does law enforcement handle these matters with an arrest? And even if they are arrested, how often are they let go with a slap on the wrist? And the city or state that handed out the sentence makes more money off the crime than the victim even receives in restitution if they get anything.

[QUOTE="blue_hazy_basic"]Murdering someone who broke into a truck OUTSIDE the home and tried to steal a radio while being unarmed except for a pocket knife which he never took out and he had to chase him a block to catch him????!?! Dear god, life has become cheap and you'd high five that? :?

I would.. anyone that comes on my property and breaks into my stuff would get the same treatment.. what am I meant to let them go? So they can come back another time? And maybe next time they'll bring friends, or a gun.. no thanks. Just take care of the scum then and there.
