I thought it was illegal in most countries. Oh wait, this is Holland.UnamedThingI thought from the thread title it was about the Netherlands too, but they're talking about some town in the USA. It would cause an uproar here in the Netherlands anyways. We still have a lot of dedication to remembering WW2 and what terrible things happened in that time.
there's two sides to this. one, just because the kid's parent's are racists doesn't mean he is. the kid should not be mistreated simply because his name is Hitler but to ignore the reality of it is silly as well. chances are he will get mistreated and excluded from a lot of things because of his name. if the name was just a coincidence, i would quite frankly take the side of the parents, but in this case i believe the parents are simply trying to make a statement, and it is not very nice to scar your child for life simply because you want to make a statement.
EDIT: i don't know why the article makes such a big deal about swastikas.
1. it's an awesome symbol. i would get a tattoo of one if i could.
2. it's been used for thousands of years as a peace symbol of the eastern world. my mom has cooking pots with swastikas on the handles.

It's the connotation that comes with it now that matters. If you flipped the bird to your teacher and then continue to say that in 500 B.C.E. this meant "thank you", I doubt you would get a good response.there's two sides to this. one, just because the kid's parent's are racists doesn't mean he is. the kid should not be mistreated simply because his name is Hitler but to ignore the reality of it is silly as well. chances are he will get mistreated and excluded from a lot of things because of his name. if the name was just a coincidence, i would quite frankly take the side of the parents, but in this case i believe the parents are simply trying to make a statement, and it is not very nice to scar your child for life simply because you want to make a statement.

Oh wow. Talk about denial. :|
And poor little boy. Imagine how unpopular he must be with the other kids. He shouldn't have to suffer because of his father's stupidity...
