Ronnie Lee Gardner is in death row for murder but instead of something like gas or electric chair (i know they don't use it) he gets shot by a firing squad.

i saw this on the news the other day.
i still think they should have used a different method of execution.
I saw it on MSN news and was like  whoa. I have nothing against death penalty but getting shot was different. Why?[QUOTE="Blu_Falcon37"]
And your point is?
Raiden004
I'm glad. It must be far worse to fry or be injected. I would also have chosen the firing squad if I were him.
And it's no more barbaric than hanging people or stapping them to a table.
Eh, he chose to be executed this way, so I don't see the problem.i saw this on the news the other day.

I saw it on MSN news and was like  whoa. I have nothing against death penalty but getting shot was different.Hmm...ok. I always thought it was stupid that most states only use lethal injection. A firing squad ends in the same result and is a hell of a lot cheaper.[QUOTE="Blu_Falcon37"]

I saw it on MSN news and was like  whoa. I have nothing against death penalty but getting shot was different. If it could be assured that death was painless and instant, I wouldn't be against it. Seeing as I have no info on whether or not it meets those two requirements, I'm still on the fence about it.[QUOTE="Raiden004"]I saw it on MSN news and was like  whoa. It's supposed to hurt.Since 2004 lethal injection has become the usual way of execution, but seeing as this guy and a few others were put on death row before 2004 they were able to choose other ways of execution, he chose to be shot in the heart by a bunch of guys.Brainkiller05I'm a bad person, because I instantly thought of this

after watching Law Abiding Citizen yesterday, I think I will be shot too lol

Also, Gardner chose that method for his execution
Pretty sure it's still like that.I wonder if they still use blanks for the executions like they used to for firing squads so the people doing the shooting wouldn't really know if they killed him.

sometimes them choosing isn't always the best option. I remember the case in which some teens chose the gas chamber thinking they wouldn't follow through with it since it's such a long and painfull death. They gassed them.
So since one bullet is real, what happens if he doesn't die right away then? Do they run up and shoot him again or something??

The others are all blanks. The reason they do that is to remove any sense of guilt the executioners have since after the execution no one knows who really killed the guy.[QUOTE="Raiden004"] I saw it on MSN news and was like  whoa. It is supposed to be painless, and, when things go as planned, lethal injection is in no way torture, though there have been cases that went poorly. Teens got the death penalty?"John Anthony Soto, convicted of murdering two men and one woman in Umatilla County, and who at age 17 became the youngest person ever executed in Oregon."
They do. In this case it was 5 men, one person has a blank round. Doesn't leave much mystery though when you have 4:5 chance of having a live round. Hell, if you're gonna go do that you might aswell go into assuming you're the one that killed him or took part in it before the moment he was truly dead.I wonder if they still use blanks for the executions like they used to for firing squads so the people doing the shooting wouldn't really know if they killed him.

I don't get why they bother with blanks. It's an execution, if you don't want to be the one who killed him you shouldn't be part of the firing squad in the first place.

Yeah, it's also kinda annoying that they use them to fall back on. You're right, though i guess down the line there might be sleepless nights for you, knowing you killed a guy, I guess the doubt of the rubber bullet is so you think "well maybe it wasn't me"; but it's still the same, you still pointed the gun at him and shot.Execution is all the same.
It doesn't really matter what happens because he's just going to end up the same way. :?
That's what I think anyway.
So being given a poison that makes you fall asleep and never wake up is the same as being slowly tortured to death over the course of a few days?Execution is all the same.
