http://youtu.be/fDCXzqgD99o -- Anderson: Is this Nazi Germany now, that I have to show my papers? Officer: Its a simple yes or no. I need an answer or we can detain you until we figure out whether youre a U.S. citizen. Anderson: Well, you know whats more simple is the fact that my freedom is a little more important than you seem to think. Setting up checkpoints where people have to prove that theyre a citizen is not something that America is supposed to be about. So, Im not sure if you understand that. Supervisor enters scene: Grunt Anderson: Grunt Supervisor: Just pull up over there (points to line of detained cars) Anderson: No, thank you I want to go free on my way. Here I am just going about my own business and I dont need to stop at a checkpoint to prove who I am because this is America. Correct me if Im wrong did I stumble into Mexico or is this still the United States? Supervisor: This is the United States. Anderson: Therefore, I should have the freedom to travel unmolested, because Im in America here. (pause) Supervisor: Ok, go ahead and go. ---

And what was the point of that? If people don't agree with the checkpoint they should complain to their Congressman. Refusing to obey the people at the checkpoint who are only following orders just to prove a point is just wasting their time as well as the time of the people waiting behind you since they're not the ones with the power to change the policy.

He won't be the last. Internal checkpoints are nothing but an overreaction. An unnecessary arm of our law enforcement.

Punishing civilians while trying to find illegals. There are much better ways of doing that that don't impose themselves on everybody.

The fact that he was recording these stops shows he has an ulterior motive. I think he purposely went out there to do try and stir it up. While I-8 may not intersect the border, that does not mean it isn't a main thoroughfare for illegal immmigrants to travese the country. Idiot.

Don't like those either.

Internal checkpoints in my country doesn't sit will with me, no matter what they are for. Sobriety checkpoints are a waste of time too. They don't even bother with them where I live because everybody can easily get around them.

These boards seem to suggest that americans are'nt nearly attached to their freedom as they like to claim.

Officers do, in fact, have the right (and responsibility) to not follow unlawful orders (such as to arrest the movement of a man without reasonable ssuspicion a crime has been committed and detain a man without probable cause to believe that a crime has been committed.)

So, what's unlawful about checkpoints on the road, again? Besides, driving is a privilege, not a right. Even if he didn't agree with the law he was inconveniencing somebody who had nothing to do with it's passing and had just as little power to change it as he did.
