How can you seriously ask that question? This man was threatening to murder the baby, and you're unsure if the officer did the right thing? This was an example of exemplary service from an officer, he should get a medal and a bottle of expensive wine.
If someone tried to take my child I would shoot and wouldn't stop until I was empty. Yes they were justified.. anyone who kidnaps kids should be shot and killed. We need to rid the world of scum like that.

You don't take a kid hostage and held a knife to her belly. He had several opportunities to let the kid go, if he did so he wouldn't have been shot. It was fully justified. Maybe the cops even waited too long.

Political leanings I can deal with, but it's quite pathetic when the moderators abuse their authority to punish those they dislike. Yes the republican party is synonymous with right wing.
If there was a realistic chance to save the child without killing him, they should have done that. But look at the footage. Anything non-lethal they could have tried would have resulted in her death.
Now I hope the victims get appropriate councelling. What they went through is absolutely traumatic.

There are plenty of instances where armed citizens have shot and killed armed, violent criminals without being arrested or charged for doing so. They may also possibly get certificate of appreciation from the locality for doing so.
