The girls were 11 to 15 years old. It's not like he was tricking 4 and 5 year olds who are notoriously gullible, he was tricking teenagers who should have known better. While what he did isn't excusable, I will go ahead and say that the girls must have been stunning examples of stupidity.

Actually you have to be of age to have it be a consensual agreement. The point is that the girls are too young to make said decisions, even if they do say yes, it isn't consensual in that sense, hence the term statutory rape.
That makes me laugh, being 15 and you're unable to make the decision to have sex with someone but suddenly at 16 you're completely able. Laws make me facepalm sometimes.

You keep using that word...I do not think it means what you think it means.
Pedophile means one who is sexually attracted to prepubescent children. Not "One who is sexually attracted to people under the legal age of the country, state, or provinince they reside in". 14 is definetly past age of puberty.
