Comics are probably better for that, actually. With manga, just about anyone can find something of interest if they look hard enough.

More like because of good plots/characters/humor/the exact same types of reasons you'd enjoy Western TV/movies/novels/graphic novels.

I do read a lot of manga but I'm not somekinda weeaboo idiot, I can understand why people like American comics with their cohesive and intertwined universes. And with that being said, one of the reasons that I enjoy manga more than American comics is because they are generally easier to follow and don't require me to buy copies of somewhat unrelated manga to understand the story.
