Personally, I'll be voting for it, as long as existing smoking regulations apply. Of course, living in SF, you see people openly smoking it on the street anyway.I'll likely be voting against it. I can't say how it will go, though.

Federal law trumps state law. Good to know. ;)It doesn't matter if it get's voted in or not. There is still a federal ban on it. This ballot is pointless.

My dear Xaos...don't you see the difference? Same-Sex marriage is yucky. (Unless, of course, it is two very hot women) But marijuana is something that folks like. (Author's Note: Previous part of post is tongue-in-cheek only.) I don't have a lot of vested interest in the vote personally myself either. I honestly don't care that much either way. I suppose I would lean towards legalization if pressed on the issue, but I won't care that much if it doesn't pass.nocoolnamejim
i'm sorry did you just say one thing then said the opposite of the thing you just said? Make up your mind buddy.. it's yucky or it's ok. but don't choose one side then go other on any subject

I was teasing Xaos. I've got nothing at all against same-sex marriage. That's why I said that the first part of my post was "tongue-in-cheek". :)[QUOTE="nocoolnamejim"]My dear Xaos...don't you see the difference? Same-Sex marriage is yucky. I actually agree with Pirate that, when state law and federal law conflict, then the federal law should win. I do, however, anticipate this question coming up again in the future. It was more wry amusement at something a long-term sparring partner said than sarcasm.[QUOTE="nocoolnamejim"] Federal law trumps state law. Good to know. ;)Snipes_2

Sarcasm is so hard to detect on the Internet :(
I'm not really sure about this issue...If it were up to me alcohol and tobacco would be illegal too. I am against anything that alters the mind, thats not how the mind should be. But marijuana is the least dangerous of all drugs. Agent-ZeroYeah, even less dangerous than alcohol--and that's legal.

Oh no worries. Debating wouldn't be much fun if we agreed on everything. :)I am pretty sure that the citizens of California will vote it in and most likely then a push would be made to lift the federal ban of marijuana. ZombiefiedZomBWhile if there's any state that would vote it in (besides maybe Hawaii) it would be Kali, I wouldn't be so sure. I never thought prop 8 would pass here.

Wait, is the federal ban actual legislation or an executive order? Because if it's an executive order, there's a good chance Obama would rescind it.

Good question. I don't know a lot about this issue. But that IS the reason why Obama hasn't rescinded Don't Ask, Don't Tell by Executive Order. He was hoping to pass something through Congress.Federal law trumps state law. Good to know. ;)A lot of the kids here getting all excited about this don't seem to understand that. I like how you think being condescending somehow makes you a smarter person... also, if California does legalize it, only national agents have the authority to actual make arrests, meaning state and local officials can't do anything, even if they wanted to. But hey! You already knew that, right? :|[QUOTE="nocoolnamejim"][QUOTE="Pirate700"]
