Also, I love how everyone thinks that Obama is in touch with the regular people. The guy has been an elite since he was 18 years old when he went to Harvard. You think he was dirt poor after that? Struggling to get by? Give me a break

Also, can you name the change that he is talking about? Don't just say, the oppossite of Bush or McCain. I want to know what this CHANGE is, because I think it is a load of baloney.

DouglasBuffone

Correct my friend. Obama wants to change the US to support his ideals. When I hear about change, I think of change for the better, not change for Obama.

Agreed.

Furthermore, I love how everyone chooses Obama because he's going to save the day and all the poor people, yet he opts out of public financing for his campain so he can spend the most money ever spend on a presidential campain. Why not use that money to "help" the people who are losing their homes?

That has to be one of the silliest arguments made on OT that I've ever read.

How so? It's not like he'd lose any media coverage. He could keep what was necessary for travel(which is a hell of a lot for a private jet) and donate the rest.

My point was the I don't want my money going to those people who made mistakes and he doesn't either.

Even if the due's platform was "save the day and all the poor people" (is that like from The Nickelodeon News Network or something?) clearly you have more control over furthering your polices as president than you do with all the campaign money raised .... pretty much ever.

Well, that was my assumption on his policy since he hasn't really told us about it himself.

And I'm not saying he should not run for president. I'm saying that it's a bit hypocritical to spend all this money on something that won't help anyone and tout how we should all have our taxes raised to help people.

I'm actually excited about Obama, first time for I have been for a canidate since Clinton's first term. All of you cinics here are having fun, but what would impact me and my family are: health care reform, a new energy policy, a President who already knows global warming is real instead of waiting 7 years to figure it out, higher taxes for higher earners (yes I'm in that bracket Bman784 quoted earlier), end or reform of no child left behind, re-looking at NAFTA, stem cell research, having a President not change the stupid color terror threats when the news cycle is against him, and on and on. Now even with a Democratic House and Senate he's not going to get all these things done, but none of these have been touched for 8 years and the problems are just growing. Many call it pandering, but Obama has already shown willingness to change his mind if the situation changes, Bush stays with whatever he says no matter how stupid or deadly it may be.
