Hi there. About 20 minutes ago I took 3 Nyquil. I am suddenly very tired, dizzy, nauseous, and am experiencing auditory hallucinations. I have not eaten anything yet today, although I'm cooking some food right now. Should I be concerned?

They're side effects of it I believe , if you get worse I would call a doctor and ask for advice. Don't take anymore though. Are you on any other meds? If you are they might be conflicting and is causing that.

Don't get any serious medical advice from this gaming forum. Contact your local doctor where you live.

Well I looked it up and it says this.

If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop taking acetaminophen, dextromethorphan, doxylamine, and pseudoephedrine and seek emergency medical attention:
·an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives);
·liver damage (yellowing of the skin or eyes, nausea, abdominal pain or discomfort, unusual bleeding or bruising, or severe fatigue);
·blood problems (easy or unusual bleeding or bruising); or
·low blood sugar (fatigue, increased hunger or thirst, dizziness, or fainting).

• Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur including:
·dryness of the eyes, nose, and mouth;
 ·drowsiness or dizziness;
·blurred vision;
·difficulty urinating; or
 ·excitation in children.

Well you have drowsiness and dizzyness. The other things you have are probably side-effects too. Just take it easy. I'm sure it'll get fine but if it keeps going for a long time or gets worse ring your doctor just to be safe.

Hey I'm trying to help here! lol. I'm not a bloody doctor but I looked up that med and thats what it says and considering they're "less serious side effects" I wouldn't worry just yet.

If it was recently, try to force yourself to throw up. But if you are already feeling the effects it's probably too late. Your first option if you are really concerned should be to consult a doctor or go to the hospital. You could try drinking lots of water and eating a lot, to try to dampen the effects. Generally, I don't think 3 should be enough to cause any serious liver damage or anything. What is the regular dosage, 2? Or just 1? Either way, you shouldn't have any long-term effects. On the boxes of medicine, they specifically understate the maximum dosage for reasons like this. For example, on Advil the box says not to take more than two at a time, but when I had teeth removed and ran out of percocet, the doctor just told me to take 6 advil at once and it would have the same effect. So obviously I'm still here so there was no damage. It just takes it from being mild, to having the effects of a narcotic.

generally you only take 2 pills, and you take them on a full stomach. SO eat something.

If you sit still or lay down, does the nausea and dizziness go away? It should. If at all possible, you should just lay down and take a nap and the effects will wear off in 6-8 hours. Definately DO NOT try to operate a vehicle or machinery, work with knives, or any complex tasks.

I would seek medical help as I'm not a medical man. But my layman advice is to stop taking the pills. Only my advice may be wrong.

Nyquil has Dextromethorhpan, that is what is causing your auditory hallucinations. You should NEVER take ANY medicine on an empty stomach. You are going to have to wait it out. If you are comfortable with it, sleep it off.

Look up Dextromethorphan on Wikipedia. It will tell you the side effects there. It is originally made as a cough suppressant. Some take it recreationally. But if you take too many nyquil pills or drink too much cough syrup with dextromethorphan, you will have some side effects. Never take more cough suppressant than what it says to. And never take it on an empty stomach. By the way, if you do look it up. It may not say auditory hallucinations, but it does say temporary psychosis. Psychosis is responsible for the auditory hallucintations. If you want to look up pyschosis, it will explain it.

Rather than rely on the OT for medical advice, you might call a doctor.
