Medicinal Marijuana - Your Opinions?

Well it comes up every two years in this current political climate.

States have taken it upon themselves to establish laws of medicinal cannabis use as the federal law prohibits the possession of cannabis for any reason without a federal tax stamp.

I live in Michigan and this year we may finally get to vote on it. I don't know the exact number but I want to say 15 states have already legalized the use of cannabis with the recommendation of a doctor.

I use cannabis for medical reasons and I could greatly benefit from this law. I have stomach and anxiety problems I've dealt with all of my life that I refuse to take pharmaceuticals for (poison IMO) that are completely alleviated by cannabis.

So...

How would you vote and most importantly...

WHY?!

It's a much less intrusive medicine if used with moderation. I think. Correct me if i'm wrong though.

I think Marijuana Should be legalized for anything... But that will not be happening if Obama/Hillary/McCain become president...which means it will not happen.

Ya know what, I just don't care, if you want to smoke because your stomach hurts, and you refuse to take alkaseltzer or an anti-acid or something, sure, just do it, if a doctor says "yeah, it's ok if you use marijuana for this, here's a gram", then it's fine by me.

Abuse isn't an issue either because, people always abuse drugs, so we shouldn't concentrate too much on that. It may come up as a "reason why this won't happen" or anything but, that's like saying "Piracy is a problem in the music industry, so we're not making music anymore".

Yes, but I don't honestly think that weed does anything that other drugs can't do, medically speaking. I also doubt its effectiveness. Still, I'm all for it.nick3333

It's true Cannabis doesn't effect everyone the same way, it's like alcohol, you have the stupid drunks, funny drunks, moody drunks etc. (that's not long term obviously, but you get what I'm saying). I know a kid who has a genius IQ and smokes 5 times a week, he was also passing his cla.sses more so when he smoked then when he didn't, just one case though.

I'm a very opinionated person, but this is one of the areas i don't feel passionate/informed enough to comment on.

At the end i of the day i would have to say, drugs are harmful and can hurt people, but if an individual finds happiness in its use then shouldn't it be his right to use it? Although personally i despise the dependancy creating effects of Euphora inducing supstances, i don't think its my right to stand in the way of those who find something of value where i do not.

I believe a drug called Marinol contains an ingredient that simulates delta-9-THC, so subscribing medical marijuana to medical patients isn't really necessary.

If they do legalize it i guess we will see a huge drop in crime relating to selling it because everyone will grow their own but thats why the government doesn't because they won't profit from it Lief_Ericson

yes, very true. Not to mention that marijuana can be consumed in safe ways that minimize the carcinogenic effects. You can cook it (anything with a bit of fat as THC is fat-soluble) or you can use vaporizers which, in layman's terms, makes it into "THC air".

Same here, I don't smoke it myself, but it doesn't sound particularly dangerous. Certainly better than liquor.

I did a line of coke in college and I had to be tackled because I causing trouble with anyone that looked at me. Yes, thats a unique reaction, but lots of bad things come from pills and powders.

the wprst thing huh? what about dropping out, smoking crack, drinking in th bathroom, sleeping in school. i toke regularly and have a solid 3.5 and am already accepted into a goog college.
